I really want to trade down in the actual draft but our history isn't good with trading picks away. There is a lot of depth at certain positions in this so I'll trade down anyway in this one

!!Trade!!
1st(14th) and 5th to the Carolina Panthers for their 1st(25), 2nd, and 4th. They move up for La'el Collins or Ereck Flowers.

1.C/LT Cameron Erving- I thought long and hard about this, I actually just thought of it , but I think Cam would be in our best interest. Who's to say if Albert will be healthy enough before the season starts or if he can stay healthy for the entire season? In comes Erving who played most of his college career at LT but moved inside his senior year. His background as a DT may translate well to an OG position.
NFL Comparison: Zach Martin

2a. RB Todd Gurley- Was a bit hesitant at first because of his injury but that talent is undeniable. While I would like to give Knowshown another chance and develop D Williams you can't pass up a chance to put thunder(Gurley) and lightning(Miller) together.
NFL Compariosn: Adrian Peterson

2b. WR Nelson Agholor- The more I watch the more intrigued I become. Has something we're really missing on offense and that's speed. Can beat the DB for those contested catches. Very solid showing at the combine before he broke his finger.
NFL Comparison: Jeremy Maclin

3. LB Paul Dawson- Wait what? Yes I think Dawson falls, maybe not this far, with his horrible combine performance and lack of height. I can also see where some say he has work ethic issues; looked carefree while running the 40 and doing drills. He's still one of the most talented LB's in this draft.
NFL Comparison: Vontaze Burfict/Daryl Washington

4a. CB Steven Nelson- A guy that I've liked a lot for a while now. Small CB but very technical and aggressive for his size. The combine and Senior Bowl really helped his stock.
NFL Comparison: Jason Verrett
4b. FS Damarious Randall- Another guy that I noticed during the Senior Bowl and Combine. Doesn't have ideal size for safety but his athleticism is enough to overcome that.
NFL Comparison: Louis Delmas
6. DE/OLB Zach Hodges- Small school guy that had a good showing at the Combine.
NFL Comparison: Less athletic Jamie Collins
7. WR Tre McBride-Could be getting a steal here. Ran a 4.41 at the Combine but doesn't always look that fast on tape. Impressed at the East-West Shrine game. ST ace with a knack for going up for circus catches.
NFL Comparison: Jermaine Kearse
Key UDFA's: QB Cody Fajardo, OLB Zaire Anderson, OT Chaz Green, DE Ryan Mueller

I LOVE your Steven Nelson pick (will he be there in the 4th though)
I LOVE your Tre McBride pick (will he be there in the 7th though)

both those guys I am very high on!!!

Cam Erving though??? instead of G/T like Scherff or Collins??? i'm not sure on that (but i just saw on the trade down too.... any other G or DT or CB around?)
I am really not a fan at all of Nelson Agholor for some reasons, there is much better WRs out there with more abilities
If Paul Dawson fell to the 3rd... I guess I would have to take him too. Just gotta keep him surrounded by team leaders and keep him working.

Thank you for signing Clay back... i am very happy..... and EH we really dont need Crabtree (which is good by me) at all with what you have done here.
just dont forget to kick out our kicker too, Sturgis!!!

In a trade-down situation Irving makes a lot of sense.

Dawson and Hodges are the two picks I really don't like. UDFA grade on Hodges, and Dawson shouldn't go before the 5th. I don't care how good he looked playing. That athlete will not be an impact player in the NFL. Very similar to situation to Jarvis Jones, who was the best player at his position in college, but who just doesn't have the physical tools to live up to where he was drafted. Dawson will have lower expectations, because he'll be drafted later, but he's also a worse athlete than Jarvis.

Should have said, I like Gurley, Agholor (but more in the 3rd), Nelson, and Randall. Would have liked some help on the D-line/LB, but I'd be really happy with this draft.

Zach Hodges isn't even in the same continent as Jamie Collins as far as playing linebacker. Hodges was a DE at Harvard and is a huge project. If you saw him in the East-West shrine game he looked terrible. I wouldn't take him.

As for the UDFA, I wouldn't take Fajardo either. I would much rather take a guy like Brandon Bridge from Southern Alabama who is athletic, strong arm, will sit in the pocket (I don't like running QBs) and scan the field. He needs major work on his feet and some mechanics but if you get him straight you can trade him in 2 years and get some pretty high draft picks for him.

I traded down because I assumed that Scherff/Collins/Parker are gone by #14. I know most o you don't like Marcus Peters, my favorite CB, so I had to trade down and pick who I thought was the BPA. My other choices were DE Owa Odighizuwa, RB Melvin Gordon, CB PJ Williams, or OT Andrus Peat. You're not going to find many WR's after the 1st with Agholor's abilities imo; he can play in the slot or outside. No other WR after the 1st can do that. Suggestions?

Clay has to come back in order for Tannehill to be successful. I don't understand why some people want to get rid of a top 10 TE, who has the best chemistry with the QB, and replace him with a higher-priced TE or rookie. After looking at my picks Crabtree didn't make sense but Wallace, Landry, Agholor, Matthews, McBride/Hazel isn't exactly an imposing WR corp. I was thinking Agholor split reps with Crabtree preparing to take over for Wallace after he leaves in 2016. Wallace, Crabtree/Agholor, Landry, Matthews, McBride is more of a corp you should watch out for with experienced veterans as your first two receivers. We'll see if Zach Hocker can beat Sturgis out or not.

No shot Gurley falls to us in the 2nd or Dawson falls to us in the 3rd.

WRs:
Justin Hardy i am very big on in many many ways, a lot more than Agholor too!!!

Phillip Dorsett, Tyler Lockett are the kind of speed guys you can run out of the slot too... Dorsett obviously can be used on outside too!!! (Devin Smith you can add here)

I would take Jaelen Strong before Nelson if he was around.... people will mention Breshad Perriman too, though I am not the biggest fan on him.

even later rounds I love Tre McBride who shows great route running and footwork and such!!! Austin Davis is a guy to keep an eye on.

Below here are my first evaluation on him.... and then my second evaluation after watching more film and the film again:

WR- Nelson Agholor of USC... he is fast, but thats all i see. he can run when he is already moving straight ahead, but he isnt quick, not good footwork to seperate, has to accelerate after laterally making moves, decent hands. i am far from big on this prospect

Nelson Agholor- USC: he has great speed and is a runner when in open field and able to run straight, he lacks lateral quickness and acceleration is decent , he has poor footwork as well but does run a variety of routes, has nice hands and adjusts well to the ball.

i agree 100% on this too... I am not a fan of what I have seen from Zach (Zack?) Hodges as well.... i forgot to mention it earlier, poor combine too (though might of tweekend his hammy or something)... great call
