Potential Miami Dolphins cap casualties

Misi I'd keep. Not that he's so good but he's decent and the cheapest of the 3 staters. Ireland messed up there tho by giving him all that money which he didn't deserve. Has never done anything special. The hit on Weeler makes it almost imposible to cut him but that doesn't mean we have to start him. Maybe somebody will start ahead of him. The other should all be let go.

Ozzy rules!!

Why isn't Matt Moore here? You're paying him more to sit on the bench than your starter.

No need to get rid of our best linebacker in Misi. Get rid of the rest, and Moore. No doubt a new rb will be brought in so why pay Thomas too

I dont think Misi is an all pro but he is the best we have at LB right now. Ellerbe played out of position last year. We move to a 3-4 or get a MLB thru FA or draft and he moves outside and more like his success in Baltimore.

...and Carlos Hyde in the draft would be a heck of an addition to our offense. Finally get those 3rd and shorts and keep drives alive.

I wouldn't cut Wheeler or Misi, but I wouldn't mind seeing Jordan get a shot at playing OLB. Pair Wake & Vernon at DE and give Jordan a fair shot at either OLB the spot. If he lands behind Wake then you have a deadly combo there.

Ellerbe wasn't great, but he did make some nice plays. I'll give him another year.

Moore should be done too. Saves $4+ Million. Tanehill or bust time, and I don't want Moore winning pointless games for us. Find a guy in the draft and bring in some competition for Thill. Healthy competition is always important on a team or guys get complacent.

Side Note: Just because a GM pays a player big money it doesn't mean that they should start automatically. It means we believe in your talent, but you still need to earn your spot and not get too comfortable. The GM and the coach are two different guys. That's the idea of the structure we have. The coach has to "Get the best players on the field"(Where have I heard that? :ponder:) not the highest paid 53.

We already have $30M in cap space. Why worry about adding more when we don't know that we will be able to spend what we have? We absolutely, positively need 4 new guys on the OL but, I'm not sure who is actually going to hit the FA market, and if they do that we will be able to sign them.

It is possible that teams will keep their own, and that bidding for a few will go through the ceiling. We will know a lot more in the next few weeks but, this is a BIG concern for me.

Don't let the mirage called Dimitri Patterson cloud your opinion
Why we paid a player $5 million plus for someone with
1 forced fumble in 9 seasons
2 sacks in 9 seasons
9 interceptions in 9 seasons
averaged 19 tackles a season
started 20 games in 9 seasons
missed 67 games in his 9 year career

Yeah he had 4 interceptions this past season in limited action
but look at his complete past to see what kind of player he truly is

Surely he can't... you know... progress as a player!

That's a very skewed statistic. How was he the past two years? That's much more likely than what you're looking at when he was a rookie getting spot duty

I liked Taylor, and thought he would be a starter by the bye last year. The injury set him back but, I still believe he is a quality starter.

Thomas gone
Moore gone
Martin gone
Incognito gone
Patterson gone

Misi safe
Ellerbe safe

Wheeler bubble because of his cap hit

Well his two years were mixed. He was horrible in Cleveland but played well here

Matt Moore is expensive for the value that we are extracting from him. However, the backup QB is effectively insurance in case Tannehill gets injured. Yes, there is an opportunity to realize savings from a much less expensive QB as backup, but then you are effectively putting all your eggs in one basket. (Remember how well our O-line protected RT from getting sacked).
Moore is a good backup who has also worked well with Tannehill. I'd prefer to keep him if we can afford it.

For 5 million in savings, they will roll with Devlin.
