This makes sense since the Phins are not only thinking about ths draft but the end of the season Free Agency..

RB Ronnie Brown - Considering the average lifespan of an NFL running back is shorter than most positions, Brown's stock might never be higher than it is now since he's coming off a Pro Bowl season. This former first-round pick could possibly produce a first-day selection. But is it worth it? That likely depends on the Dolphins' view of Brown, which will become clearer soon based on the new contract he's offered, and their opinions of the tailbacks in this draft class This could be Brown's last season as a Dolphin. His 2010 contract, which pays him $5 million that season, is voidable.

I think it would have to be an awefully high pick for this to even be considered and I don't think any team would offer that.

Hoooo boy. This site will all be in sackcloth and ashes if that happens.

I know...but I'm thinking like the phins, how much would ronnie want to be resigned at the end of the season..and does it give us no options if he's too high and we're not willing to pay..then we lose him and get nothing in return..

Oh I'm with you there. I think if we could get a 2nd and a 5th or something, I'd be all over that.

Often teams will still do that with a player rather than taking a deal for less than that player is worth. They'd rather have one more season with a 1st round caliber player than to just get rid of him for a 3rd or 4th. Idk what Ronnie would garner in a trade right now but as good as I think he is I doubt they get a 1st rounder for him, and if you let him go you create a huge hole at RB. I know, I know, we have Ricky and Cobbs but Ricky is such a shadow of his former self, the dude is just soft 80-90% of the time now and Cobbs is nothing more than a good change of pace back. You'd have to draft a rb in this scenerio and then use a higher pick on him. I just don't think it happens.

Totally awful idea. The only way I would trade Ronnie Brown is if I get more than one high pick in return.
Let's say, for argument's sake, we trade Ronnie to someone in need of a runningback in the middle of the first round, maybe the Broncos at 12 for example. All we would be doing is creating another need by getting rid of Brown so we would be forced to spend one of our picks on a runningback anyway. A completely unproven rookie.

If we can get a first this year and a second next year or something like that, then maybe I would consider it. I don't think we would get the proper value, I say see how he plays this year and either re-sign him or tag him and trade him.

Moreno would be there in rd 1 at our pick, but I think we could wait until round 2 and get LeSean McCoy,RB Pittsburgh or Donald Brown, RB Connecticut and still be good, those are 2 pretty good RB's..if our OL is indeed improved, then we're set.. That will allow us to still get whomever we cover in Rd 1, plus we still have Hilliard on the team from last year..even thought I like Jalen better whom we lost to Baltimore. I think we drafted them one draft too early.

We will probably pick up a RB anyway in this draft since both Ronnie and Ricky can become FA's at the end of this season.. so you're not doing something you weren't going to do anyway.

i don't see us letting Ronnie go .... as he is absolutely critical for our WC.

do you want to sell high before losing out with no compensation ... sure - but if nothing else, i suppose we could finally end up with a compensatory pick (not preferred of course, but a possibility).

Out of those three my preferences would be....

  1. Moreno
  2. McCoy
  3. Brown
Brown look intriguing but I don't know if he has faced the same level of competition....

We have a decent situation at RB. It is not something we need to touch...once again...IF IT ISN'T BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT. Even if we got a second...there is no guarantee they will be at Ronnie's level...thi is just nonsense....
