Now they we've got our Head Coach we've got two things to look forward to; free agency and the draft. All year we've named big name FAs that we should look for. These names include Leonard Davis,Eric Steinbach,Asante Samuels, Nate Clements, and Lance Briggs. While I would love to see any of those guys wearing a Dolphins uniform, the fact remains that they will be demanding a lot of money; and coming off a 6-10 season, can we really afford to go after big name guys? I'll agree that we should atleast present a pitch to some of them; preferably Samuels and/or Steinbach, but teams are built through their depth.
The canidates I am about to list may not be stars, nor may they be familiar names. BUT these are guys I view as potential canidates that can potentially fill voids in our starting line-up, as well as help our questionable depth.
Kris Dielman OG, San Diego Dielman has been a guy brought up in several posts since Cam Cameron has become our coach, and rightfully so. Dielman spent his college career playing for Cameron at IU, and has turned into a decent OG under both Cam and Houck's watch in San Diego.
Kevin Curtis WR, St Louis Curtis has been a very good 3rd WR for St. Louis the last couple of seasons. Why do I put him on the list? He's a burner. the one thing our offense still lacks is a true speedster at WR.
Ovie Mughelli FB, Baltimore Cam's offense likes to utilize the FB. If you haven't noticed we've had troubles with that position the last couple of years with either injuries (Konrad) or bad blocking (Evans), or bad recieving skills (Barnes). Mughelli has been a decent blocker for the Ravens this year, and has also provided some big plays in the passing game.
Juqua Thomas DE, Philadelphia I believe he had 8 sacks coming off the bench this season. With the possibility of losing David Bowens, we need another pure pass rusher (Matt Roth and Kevin Carter are not pure pass rushers) to back up JT. Because he is relatively unknown, Thomas could come cheap.
Hollis Thomas DT, New Orleans It's been talked about beforel we could lose Traylor, and Holliday via FA, Wilkinson could get cut, and Zgonina is not coming back. That leaves us with a very young, very inexperienced group of DTs. Thomas is not the greatest DT in the world, but he's a servicable big body that can clog up the middle, and a good locker room guy.
Ian Scott DT, Chicago Same reason as Thomas for going after Boone, but for a different need. Thomas could replace the run clogging of Traylor/Wilkinson, Scott can do that, but he also gets good pressure on the QB (stats don't show how many hurries he got)
Boss Bailey OLB, Detroit Champ's baby brother. Very talented, but has been riddled with injuries. Could come cheap, and could result in a high reward.
Hanik Milligan SS, Arizona Not to start, nor see PT on defense. Milligan made the pro bowl as a ST player for SD in 05. Our ST coverage was so-so last season.
Josh Scobey RB, Seattle Morris and Minor are FA, and Ricky may or may not be back. Scobey has been a good return man in Seattle.
Bethel Johnson WR, Minnesotta Good return skills, great speed. Plus, he knows New England's playbook.
Kawika Mitchell LB, Kansas City solid tackler, but nothing special. Is a USF graduate so we could get the Floridian discount
Brandon Chillar LB, St. Louis Solid tackler, good young LB. Bad News: He's an RFA, good news: If he costs us anything it will be a late 2nd day pick.
again these are just a few suggestions for depth/cheap starters.
