Pouncey and Moreno placed on PUP list

This is the active PUP list, meaning they can start practicing whenever the player gets cleared by doctors. Pouncey will likely go on the reserve PUP list when the seasons starts, which will allow a roster exemption for him being that he was on the preseason active PUP list.

Looks like several players around the leauge are headed there before training camp starts.

1. Golden Tate will open up his first Detriot Lions training camp on the PUP list, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, per a source informed of the team's plans. Defensive end Ziggy Ansah was also placed on the list.

2. Despite the "optimism" surrounding Aaron Dobson's surgically repaired foot, the Patriots wide receiver will not be available for the start of camp, according to ESPN.com's Field Yates. New England also placed Dobson, cornerback Alfonzo Dennard and defensive tackle Tommy Kelly on the PUP.

3. Bengals defensive behemoth Geno Atkins landed on the list as he continues to mend from the torn ACL he sustained in October, per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer. Don't rule out Atkins for a healthy start to the regular season, but we don't expect to see much from the disruptive defensive tackle before Week 1.

4. Cincinnati also placed cornerback Leon Hall on the PUP with an Achilles injury. This comes just one month after coach Marvin Lewis said the cornerback had made an "amazing" recovery and was ahead of schedule.

5. The hits keep coming for the Bengals -- starting tight end Jermaine Gresham joins the above teammates on the PUP list along with defensive tackle Christo Bilukidi, the team announced on

Moreno has a stench of another failed FA signing unfortunately.

Looking forward to another season of Daniel "Quicksand" Thomas

Some people cant help it....lol

We've seen this episode before. Big name FA comes in with all sorts of nagging injuries, out of shape, and continues to be underwhelming during the season. I can't think of any instances where a player starts off with all these negative stories and turns in a pro bowl season, have you?

On Sirius radio they were explaining the pup. If you don't designate pup in preseason then you can't use it at the start of season for a player. Doesn't mean anything right now other than dolphins keeping their options open. I expect pouncey to stay on when season start so we get a player exemption. Moreno should be ok

whats the time limits if a player is placed on the pup list at the start of the season?

The Active/PUP (Preseason PUP list) allows players who are unable to start training camp the ability to sit out until the medical staff provides clearance. Once they are medically cleared, they're allowed to practice immediately

Reserve/PUP - These players are prevented from playing and practicing during the first six weeks of the season. What makes the Reserve PUP advantageous is that any player on the Reserve PUP list does not count against the 53-man roster. If a player isn't activated after the sixth week, the team has a six-week window (day after Week 6 to day after Week 11) to make a decision to: 1.) place the player on injured reserve; 2.) release the player; or 3.) get him back to practice. As soon as the player returns to practice, the team has another three-week window to add the player back to the 53-man roster, or place them on the Injured Reserve list.
