If he was really that close, I don't see why they would have signed Satele
i agree that omar is mostly full of crap. However in this instance you can actually see the progress pouncey is making, ie, running already and doing extensive work during ladder drills. That puts him in stage 3 of his rehab and more than likely points to a much less invasive surgery than what was originally reported. Imo he probably had a similar surgery to the one brandon marshall had and will be back sooner than later.
The big question is when will he start stage 4 which is getting back to game movements and activities such as blocking a trainer or pushing a sled. That stage can last up to a month before being able to actually have contact with other players.
I just hope he doesn't push it to hard and have a setback like jordan did last year.

Chances are that the team does not know for sure, and we still have to get through the preseason. Shelly did not work, and needs to compete at OG, and Garner needs some work in the new O at all positions. It's a combo of necessity and insurance, which makes sense.
Yeah I agree 100%. I like this proactive move very much. I know Satele isn't great but it didn't sound like we had more than 1 serviceable center on the roster. Instead of sitting back and waiting for something to happen (like wasting a draft pick on Bryant McKinnie when you just could have signed him in the offseason) Hickey signed insurance now.
At this point in time, we need two centers for 1st and 2nd teams just to get through the preseason, and the insurance fits in nicely. I have a gut feeling that Brenner is going to surprise some.

If Pouncey is running already would that be a miraculous recovery?
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...ns-mike-pouncey-0805-20140804,0,3497361.storyThe Miami Dolphins' trainers have been consistently turning up the volume on Mike Pouncey's rehab assignment.
The Dolphins' Pro Bowl center is now running on his surgically repaired hip, and his steady progress has Pouncey optimistic that if he doesn't suffer a setback he can participate in the Dolphins' Sept. 7 season opener against the New England Patriots.
Of course, Pouncey has little say on this matter. His labrum injury needs to be medically cleared by team doctors. But Pouncey, a three-year starter, is certain he's ahead of schedule on what's considered to be a two- to three-month rehab program.
"I'm already ahead of schedule. My goal is to not miss anything," Pouncey said. "I'm trying to be smart about it so I don't have any relapses when I come back. I'm just going to listen to the team doctors and [coach Joe] Philbin. Whenever they tell me I'm ready to go, I'm going."
The Dolphins have placed Pouncey on the PUP list, and have some tough decisions to make regarding his roster status in a month. They can leave Pouncey on the Active/PUP list if he's not ready to play in the opener or during the season's first month. But that would mean Pouncey wouldn't be eligible to practice or play until after week six.
It also means the first game Pouncey would be able to play in is the Oct. 21 road game against the Chicago Bears.
Omar has always been full of complete **** when it came to injuries.
Remember Pennington was fine because he was eating cereal with his right arm even though it came to be he had blown out his shoulder again?
Sadly we haven't had a QB eat cereal with quite the same touch and natural feel for it since he left.
