Pouncey numbers

so they are giving him an extra $4m this season than he was scheduled with the 5th year option. i wonder if it will be a lower hit next season to get that $28m for Suh out of the way.

So, if I'm reading this correctly ...

This year = $11 million
The next 4 years total = $33.75 million

Can we stop jumping off of cliffs now?

No....let me be ****ing irrational about everything...

We are frontloading contracts. Good thing to do now the FA pool has dried. More ammo next year.

Are you sure that's not $11 million this year and then an additional $44.75 million on the extension...the next 4 years? Total of $55.75 million over the next 5 years?

That what I was wondering about.

Because how this was worded, he's not gonna be the highest paid.

The Miami Dolphins have officially announced Mike Pouncey's five-year contract extension that makes him the team's property through the 2020 season.

Multiple sources tell me the deal is for $45 million with $22 million in guaranteed money.

That extension annual average of $9 million per season does indeed make Pouncey the highest paid center in the NFL, as was previously reported in this space -- slightly ahead of Oakland's Rodney Hudson.

Pouncey will sign the deal this afternoon sometime.

"We are excited that we were able to sign a contract extension with Mike,” said General Manager Dennis Hickey. “He is a two-time Pro Bowler, with a team-first approach as evident by moving to guard last season while still playing a high level. We are happy that he will stay in Miami and be a key member of our offense."

Probably not much cap space remaining at this point, makes me even more convinced they will not add a WR before the draft..

The $11M is a signing bonus, split over 5 years on the cap..

So how much money do you estimate we have left SB2?

The $11 million cap hit this year makes sense. The Dolphins have a massive $28.6 million Ndamukong Suh cap hit in 2016. By giving Pouncey a large salary this year, they can give him less next season.

When the real cap numbers are out, we should have a cap hit this year of maybe $4M not $11m which there is no way in hell we can afford. There will NOT be an $11M cap hit this year, we will actually save $3-4M based on what I think and common sense.

I hope you are correct and to be honest I do not trust A.A. reporting that much anymore.

Not sure of what they did. However Roto, a reliable source, has the $11M as a signing bonus, which makes perfect sense.

The team has roughly $11M in cap space. It would be as insane as it gets to give that to Pouncey this year, and screw all other need.

GUARANTEE that is not the case. We extended to save cap space, not to use it up. LOL
