Pouncey signs extension

The long-term extension for C Mike Pouncey and the #Dolphins is a long time in the making. And there is an agreement in principle.

Hopefully Miami didn't make him the highest paid center in the NFL

5 yr, 40M would be my guess.

Armando Salguero (@ArmandoSalguero) tweeted at 8:09 PM on Fri, Apr 10, 2015:
Alex Mack was previously NFL's highest paid center at $8.8M annual average salary. I'm told Pouncey's deal is slightly higher.

Armando tweeting it too..

Says he's now the nfls highest paid center. Was Alex Mack before at 8.8, and reportedly slightly higher than that.. It's a lot but if he returns to form at center it'll be worth it.

But then again, you've got some people saying were better off without him. I don't buy that at all

edit: rethinking my statement about it being worth it... Not sure any center is worth 9 mil...

Good signing. Team player that was rewarded for strong play and being unselfish last year moving to guard.

Keep your own guys.

people have to stop thinking these contracts can get done for 5 to 6 M a year like they were telling me.

If you are a top 15 player at the position you are gonna get paid a ton.

Vernon is next big pay day if he logs 8 sacks next year that will be close to 10M a year.

Maybe on the open market. Buying out a year of a deal and staying on board with a team shouldn't cost this much off a down season.

7.5M per would've been fine by me, just because sometimes it costs more to keep your own. But rewarding for being unselfish while sucking at his new spot there's gotta be some middle ground.

Nature of the NFL. He is a top 5 to 10 center. So on open market they will get it.

Sorry Make your TEAM pay you what you are worth no loyalty. They will cut you in a heartbeat so you are going to see more and more too players laugh at this notion of hometown discount

That 7.5 million cap number has to have gone down.

He's low-end top 10. I think a position like center where you're low end top 10 is something you can move on from. Like a Charles Clay for example.
