Dolphins center Mike Pouncey says he had hip surgery right after the season ended

Pouncey says surgery was on opposite hip he had repaired in 2014@AbramsonPBP

Mike Pouncey says he'll be ready to practice when OTAs begin@AbramsonPBP

Mike Pouncey say he had hip bone shaved down. Not same hip as 2014. Ready for OTAs.

so both hips...that's not good

why you cleaning out the other hip? makes you wonder if he's got a degenerative condition

wont be long before jamil douglas is starting on the pivot I'd say

Destroys any trade value and the Phins still have to pay him.

Jamil Douglas in the pivot.....ugh

I wonder if Pouncey might have what's called the "pistol grip deformity". That's a genetic condition where the side of your femoral head sort of bulges out and creates impingements (pinching) against your hip socket. If you don't go in and shave down the side of the femoral head it can lead to arthritis and needing a full hip replacement down the road.

Of course I'm not an ortho. He might have a completely different problem. I know we have doctors who post here on FH so if one of them reads this maybe they could chime in. But if he's had both hips "shaved down" the pistol grip deformity is a definite possibility.

Definitely maybe! :D

Helps explain his inconsistency. He's playing in pain.

His inconsistency also comes from tells. EX: placing more weight on the leg in which he intends on pulling. Leaning back in stance to catch in pass protection and so on.

He is not a very smart player either in terms of protection calls.

Go? Go go? Can't decide if it reminds me of a Wham! song from back in the day or the group Belinda Carlisle was in.

i think Douglas did a good job filling in for him

He absolutely stunk

Douglas allowed a QB hurry every 21 snaps
Fox allowed a QB hurry every 23 snaps
Thomas allowed a QB hurry every 29 snaps
Turner allowed a QB hurry every 131 snaps
Pouncey allowed a QB hurry every 202 snaps

Douglas allowed a QB hit every 75 snaps
Fox allowed a QB hit every 142 snaps
Thomas allowed a QB hit every 105 snaps
Turner allowed a QB hit every 131 snaps
Pouncey allowed a QB hit every 202 snaps
