Practice squad signings

this marcus vick thing is so amazing. when we signed him as a FA Saban was bashed for signing a criminal type with questionable NFL potential. Vick was "persona non grata" & the boards were littered with incendiary remarks. Nasty internet stuff considering Vick went undrafted and Saban incurred no risk signing him. Check out Vick's college stats: nothing special. But the beauty of Americans are, once we rip apart someone and they survive, we do a 360 and praise their every move. Vick has survived. He didn't do much in preseason but he survived. He looked smooth, poised and surehanded making fair catches and now it's: "I can't believe he made it thru waivers on all the sports shows, and Saban's wife agonized when he was waived! This is insane! He's listed as 6 '0" 216lbs (appears lighter) runs a 4.4 40 shows versatility, but right now, that's about it! When he signed, I was excited because of his potential, but until he makes standout plays, he's just a guy on the practice squad.

Glad he made it through waivers, now if he does become a versatile Randle-El type player, he does it for us, and has cost us nothing. And if he can stay clean, why not root for the kid to make it? Its the American way.

Go Marcus! I posted (or had help) with an interview of Saban where he said he want's to develope him not only as a WR but a QB for the future. Marcus haters needs to get over it because as long as he stays out of trouble Saban will keep him around. Nice read. Thanks.

I could care less about Vick. He is a despicable human and a less than NFL caliber QB talent. Cut him loose.........
Yeah their is so many NFL players that come in as a rookie drafted and undrafted that learns and contributes at QB, WR, and also KR and PR.:shakeno: Silly haters.

This should be the end of the thread. We have had a ton of guys make the practice squad because they showed some kind of potential. But unless they start making the big plays that get them an actual contract and a roster spot they are just another almost good enough player, and who remembers the almost good enough guys?
