1. It's amazing how bad Brady Quinn, really, for someone who was considered a top 10 pick before his draft. Honestly, he should be a case study in college evaluations to see how he misled evaluators. Granted, even Cam Cameron passed on him and he didn't go until 22 to Cleveland so maybe many in the NFL actually knew. The Browns picks for qb are pure hilarity.
2. Anthony Johnson reminds me of a Jimmy Johnson style defensive tackle. I mean that as a compliment. I always liked how Jimmy built his defense. I think he'd be all over Johnson. Johnson has some quick twitch there. I like it.
3. I am intrigued by our assistant GM, Stokes. He has a good background.
4. As for all of the GM candidates we met with and passed on us, I think we got the right guy. Media favoritism for the other guys was all superficial. I mean, Ray Farmer, Lake Dawson, Caserio? Farmer doesn't seem to have any idea what he is doing in Cleveland and may be gone in a hurry. Caserio: well the Pats haven't been drafting great. Lake Dawson, pffft. This is all stupid media driven drama. Hickey seems to be a good fit. It's hard to see what is happening behind the scenes, but we seem to have upgraded significantly. All of the drama and negativism against Miami during the process is irrelevant and not on anyone's radar now. Of course, the proof will be in the pudding. But, James will start. Landry looks like an impact player. Turner is likely a future starter. Aikens is acclimating to safety but was running second team. Tripp and Fede were steals. Anthony Johnson, Chris McCain as undrafteds could be freaking NFL starters. Damien Williams looks good too. Miami's scouting seems to have been fine as we have found good players in the late rounds (think Jimmy Wilson and Charles Clay), and that hasn't changed so the common denominator is good scouting. But the GM lacked the horsepower to make decisions.
