I never understood it the other way either. I always thought if the 1st team offense is practicing against the 2nd team defense they're not really getting a good look to prepare them for the games on Sunday. Same with the 1st team defense going against the 2nd team offense.

It's 100% mind games being played by Dan Campbell, which feels very Parcellsian.

Whatever, keeping the players mentally engaged instead of mentally checked out (as they were the last three years) is good.
