Former first-round pick Dion Jordan practiced with the Dolphins on Wednesday for the first time since late in the 2014 season.

Jordan, considered one of the biggest draft busts in franchise history, worked with the defensive line as he looks to restart his career. He missed all of last year because he violated the NFL’s performance-enhancing substance policy and has been out this season after undergoing knee surgery.

He has been on the Non-Football Injury list, which means he does not count against Miami’s 53-man roster. The team has three weeks to activate him or he will must stay on the NFI list the rest of the year.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase planned a light practice for the team’s first practice after the two-week West Coast trip to ease his players back into their routine heading toward Sunday’s home game against the 49ers (1 p.m., FOX).

To be safe, I wouldn't rush Tunsil back if he could use another week of rest. It won't be easy, but I think our current o-line (minus Albert, Tunsil, and Pouncey) can do just enough against the 49ers front seven. The extra week of rest will help, but we'll need all hands on deck against the Ravens. That game has playoffs written all over it.
