The Dolphins are rebuilding and will not be a playoff team. There are too many holes. But Miami is strong in a few areas, and I think that will make this team a tough out on most weeks. I can see Miami losing a lot of 20-14 or 17-14 kind of games, where the offense won't be able to keep up with its defense. I think it's a long shot that Garrard or Moore or even rookie Ryan Tannehill light it up at quarterback in 2012. I would be surprised if Miami has a better record than 6-10 this season.

Let me guess, James Walker. This guy comes up with so many ways to rank and grade the AFC East it is getting ridiculous. Pretty much the same content just written slightly different so he can fill up his blog space. He has written "I would be surprised if Miami has a better record than 6-10 this season." and "will not be a playoff team" so many times I can't count anymore. We already know how he sees the AFC East. He thinks the Patriots will win the East, the Bills are amazing and will make the wild card, the Jets will be competitive but miss the playoffs, and the Dolphins don't have much talent and will be worse than last season. Do we need him to keep making blog posts to say the same thing over and over? ESPN really needs a new AFC East blogger.

and the right side of the offensive line is entirely new.

LMFAO. No **** really the right side of the line is entirely new? What a revalation.............maybe because last years right side was so ****ing horrible that most high school linemen would have been an upgrade.

Oh and the whole QB controversy thing, yeah no **** on that one Sherlock...it's been ten plus years we know.

Coaching gets a C- because Philbin is an unknown, but does acknowledge that we hired great assistants in Sherman and Coyle. Walker's mighty Bills also got a C- for coaching, yet they have have known head coach who is 10-22 in Buffalo.

Yeah and the intangibles are a B, "Miami has a good locker room". Isn't the coaching staff the major driver in that locker room? lol.

Arguably Miami's biggest strength is their defense, Walker's opinion of the Dolphins defense? They are overrated. Yet, he raves about the Bills defense.

I don't think they need a new blogger, I just think they don't need to blog as often as they make him.

our defense is overrated. Secondary is horrible until further notice. You all can cry about bias all you want but the defense is barely above average and the offense looks abysmal at this point.

Defense finished top 10 last year and third against the run. Y. Bell and Lanford are the only losses plus we added Vernon and Marshall. Dansby and Wake should be better in the 4 / 3. That's not barely above average.

secondary and pass rush opposite wake are the concerns on the defense...right side oline wr core and te play all concerns on o...not to mention the most important position on the field qb...

hard to be an outsider and look at this team being much of a threat in 2012...

This pretty much sums it up. The Dolphins can be a competitive team this year, but with that offense they won't be much of a threat.

i think the front 7 has the potential to be very good this year...if vernon can give us some consistent pass rush as the situational rusher that would be huge...i like the lb core and think misi won't be an eye sore...front 7 may be the strength of this team...

a little concerned about the cb play especially in nickle looks etc...not sure what i think of richard marshall on the nickle in the slot etc and smith always makes me cringe on the boundary...that said coyle did a lot with a pretty poor group imo in cinci so maybe we can pull a rabbit out of the hat...thing i don't like about coyle though is in cinci he seemed to like those jumbo safeties that play more in the box hybrid type rolls who can't really run or cover and get exposed when they do...the roy williams the gibril wilsons...i'm guessing they envision that kind of role for reshad jones...but he's got more going for him athletically than wilson or williams...not quite the same eye sore in coverage...still i'd expect the opposition to attack it

let me slide on my homer glasses for a moment...

the defense is fine. seriously. all they need from the secondary is to make a couple more plays and hang on to INT chances. the D-line will be fine and can apply QB pressure, not worried there.

yeah, some big questions on offense, but they have some running threats and I have some level of confidence in Bess and Chad to make plays, along with Clay, it isn't looking like a terrible unit. If we had some established name at QB, I think all of a sudden the attitude about the offense would be very different. that said, we'll see what happens at QB, but Moore was not terrible last year, could be better, but decent. if Garrard can recapture a little something from years past, you never know there...

in all, I am not that pessimistic entering this year. I dont expect the AFC Championship, but they should have a shot at the playoff if they get anything out of the QB position.

I think a "C" or a "C-" is about right for the Fins. We are an average team, or slightly under average. Its hard to argue with that with so many unknowns.

What I do have a rpoblem with though, is James Walker grading Buffalo as a "B" team.....a team that lost 8 of its last 9 games a "B"? seriously? Mario Williams doesnt turn a 6 win team into a 9 or 10 win team.
