With the plague of pre snap penalties in recent years, and subsequently starting off this season the same way from the scrimmage today, I’m looking for your creative ways to eliminate them once and for all. Funny, serious, any idea can be posted.
My theory: the o line spends most of their time working as a group on the field working technique and also in meetings. QBs are in their groups and in 7 on 7s etc. little time is spent “live” with 11 on 11 and live cadence.
Solution idea: as teams pump crowd noise into practice so could teams pump in QB cadence via loudspeaker. Record the QB voices on multiple cadences and multiple snap counts. Every day the o line goes through live drills as a group, and every snap count is via speaker.
Coach calls for play and snap count, a field assistant hits a button and that snap count is called by one of the QBs. Could be audibles or any calls the team might make.
This would condition the line to snap count every time.
While this effort should not be needed at this level the fact is players get less and less on field time due to CBA and even less live team drilling. Sometimes the basics need to be stressed and merely running gassers after is not the solution.
