I just want to try and get a feeling of what you guys think will happen to Lex Hilliard.

Should we trade him? Put him on the practice Squad? or go into the season with 4 running backs on the roster?

There are plenty of RB starved teams out there. Denver for example, I know they drafted Knowshown Moreno, but he has been injured and without a RB threat they have an anemic offense.

I say we showcase Hilliard one more week and trade him to the highest bidder.

I was originally thinking trade. However, I think we carry four running backs this year.

That would seem logical, considering Ricky will be leaving next year and we will be looking for a replacement, but that means we go into the season with 5 backs if you include our FB.

That is true. Though they could easily make the choice logical. There has been talk of keeping 6 receivers. I would much rather keep the four running backs then a 6th receiver.

This might not work, but what about keep just Fasano and Martin on the 53 man roster at tight end? Let Haynos walk and stash Nalbone on the practice squad.

If Lex is actually as good as he appears to be(keep in mind he is playing against mostly third string defenses) it is probably best to keep him on the roster. If we cut him, he will be snatched up by another team, no doubt about that.

As you mentioned it is possible Ricky is not back next season. He has said though he plans to retire after the 2010 season, so the option still exists he could return. But, will he have any gas left in the tank by this time next year?

Ronnie's contract is up after this season, though I do expect the team to re-sign him. Lex Hilliard does not really help the 2009 Dolphins, but he could be a critical part of the 2010 and beyond Dolphins.

I'd still like to see him running with the 1's before we anoint this guy...Isn't Chris Williams still fresh in everybody's mind?

We were talking about this just last night. I wouldn't take a chance of losing Hilliard. I think you absolutely have to keep all 4. With Ronnie being up after the season and Ricky really having no value at this point except to us. His contract runs out this year as well.

We have done a great job developing Hilliard.

I really hope they keep them all.

Hilliard looks like a football player but he will never be Ricky or Ronnie. Get real...

You playing with that magic eight ball again finner? j/k :chuckle:

Actually I'm not sure Ronnie will ever be Ricky but you have to keep on developing players and the Dolphins have done well with Hilliard.

I'm not ready to let him go elsewhere just yet unproven or not. You have to keep guys who show promise and I've seen that from the guy.

**** you guy... its entirely possible

Really, you think it's possible we trade Brown to make room for a guy that was on the practice squad last year because he looked good in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2 preseason games? Come on man! I'm not saying we don't keep him as a 4th RB but damn be for real!

By the way I'm pretty sure Ronnie looked like the 1st round stud that he is Sat night and oh yeah that was against the Panthers 1st team defence. I can't believe I'm even responding to this foolishness
