This is my prediction on what will happen. This is not neccessarily my opinion on what should happen, but just a "gut feeling".

1. Huizenga wants a big name and the big name is Pete Carroll. He will offer him the "keys to the kingdom".

2. If Pete turns it down and stays at SC, it will be between the following candidates: Ken Whisenhunt (can keep most of the current staff), Cam Cameron (Hudson Hauck connection, but how long would Miami have to wait for his availabilty) or Dom Capers (can keep the staff in place and the vets ie. Jason Taylor would aplaud the continuity pick)

Reply not what you would want, but your prediction for what you think will happen.

I think they have a coach by the end of the week and it will be...Dom Capers

I predict that Wayne will go with a defensive HC (which I dont agree on) but I think he will settle with a dark horse candidate. Our HC will be Mike Tomlin, and I think that means Mularkey will remain at OC (*tear)

Any scenario that contains Pete Carroll, or even worse, mike mularkey is just unthinkable, i refuse to even entertain those thoughts at this point.

The only thing about Capers I like is that he knows how to USE talent. He just doesn't know how to draft it. He took a group of aging veterans one game from the SB in only his second season with Carolina. If he has guys and KNOWS what they can do, he could legitimately get us where we want to be. THIS is provided he gets a good OC and there is a GM making the personnel decisions. DO NOT LET CAPERS MAKE ALL THE PERSONNEL CALLS. Let him coach them. If it was structured with Capers NOT having absolute power, I would be less disappointed if he was the guy.

I am 100% sure that Mike Mularkey will be named HC, and then bring in Wannstedt to be OC, and then hire Tom Olivadotti to be DC. From there, Matt Millen will be named our new GM, and Pete Rose will be hired to come to the NFL and head up our new position, "President of Ethics Committee".

And since its now officially been brought up as a new thread, we can bring in Terrell Owens to be our #1 WR, but we can also let him be the recievers coach and VP of the ethics commitee.

I am not sure what route WH is going to go, but I am sure that he will get us the man that he thinks will get it done. We arent sitting in those meetings and interviews, he is. I want Cameron, but if he walks in and doesnt have a good interview, or isnt as prepared as another guy, then what can you expect wayne to do. I really just hope that whoever we get, will be sucessful and make this a proud franchise again. Oh and be thankful for what WH does for him and not use him.

Lol, nice. I should've thought of TO in the equation...

1. Wayne will hire either Whisenhunt or Cameron as HC so long as they agree to keep Capers at DC. Mularkey will be gone and replaced by someone with ties to Whisenhunt or Cameron, respectively. Mueller will likely be let go and replaced with a GM recommended by and who can work with the new HC.

or

2. Capers is named HC. He keeps Mularkey as OC and names a DC to run his scheme. Under this scenario, Mueller might stay but chances are Capers has a few names of potential GMs he'd be comfortable working with.

If Wayne is smart he would do everything possible to keep Capers on the staff because our D played well this season. Although I think rankings are overrated, you can't argue with being #3 in defense, even if the D folded like an accordian when it mattered most. I think Capers could be a very good HC if were paired with a good GM/personnel guy. Charlie Casserly ran the personnel in Houston and did a horrible job in my opinion. I think Capers actually deserves another opportunity with a team with some establishes talent. Although I'm sure he'd love another HC job with a non-expansion team, Capers will probably be content as a DC knowing that he already had 2 chances at running the show but failed. So, if he is not named HC, Wayne needs to keep him on staff.

If Whisenhunt or Cameron were willing to keep Capers, I say Wayne should go that route. Clearly, we need some imagination in our offense. I liked Linehan's offense because he attacked down the field but clearly Mularkey's version of the "Dolphins Offense" lacked any big play capability. Whether that was a product of Mularkey, Saban or our poor QB play, I don't know. What I do know is that it is very difficult to win games when you don't attack down the field. Defenses only had to defend a 10 yard box against us this season which made it entirely too difficult to move the ball with consistency. I may get killed for this, but I would not be opposed to retaining Mularkey if he were to open things up more.

you will, whats your address?

I would love to keep dom on the staff, but not if it means he has to coach. He was horrible in houston, stay away. Good DC, bad HC. Meathead has to go, thats just a given. Any scenario in which he stays is a bad one for the phins.

TexanPhinatic: I hear you about Mularkey. Clearly the O was bad this year. Mularkey called more than one questionable play. But again, how much of that was Saban? Also, our entire O changed once Culpepper went down and Harrington showed he could not throw it deep with any consistency. How many times did Harrington overthrow receivers running deep? I dare to say that Joey was worse throwing deep than Fiedler was. And, our receivers did not help much with alot of drops.

I'm no Mularkey apologist nor will I be overly upset if he stays or goes. There is alot to be said for continuity as most top offenses in the NFL have had their OC and key players in place for a few years. Regardless, the O needs to play much better.

no no no no .... if mularkey is our head coach next season, were in for another season where we miss the playoffs, and another season where zach and JT get older..... we just cant do it, hes garbage

mularkey was brutal in buffalo, and has been brutal since he showed up in miami. lose him, now. love the idea of a new (as in first time) HC, coming from an offensive background. keep garrett on staff - as OC. keep capers as DC - if he bails, how about bringing jim bates back, if he's interested. i like cameron, i like whisenhunt next. but all this is predicated on giving the gm position some real thought, real authority. is mueller the guy? if not, find the right guy, immediately.

Bates said he was not coming back as a coordinator. Indications are that Mueller is the GM and will be for awhile. Piolis name is flying about, but he turned down the NYG job, rumored to be his best choice other than the pats, so, dont think hes going anywhere.
