I must have missed this guy....what's his MO?

PressCoverage somehow was able to see copies of the sentinel's dolphins coverage before they hit the papers and the web. He would come on here and report what he saw. Someone saw that he was doing this, some calls were made, and he was fired.

This was months ago.

Damn, I didn't know he was fired, also Terry or other mods, the new guy posting stuff in the main forum, could we get that completely moved? I don't want to see another guy get fired over giving us the "scoop." Maybe he could be asked to run his stuff by a mod first, and you guys could help him maintain his identity? Or even if his stuff was only shown in the premium members area?

We arent his babysitter. If he wants to jeopardize his job, that's a risk he's taking. IF he gets fired because of this, he deserves it.

EDIT: I am not speaking on behalf of the rest of the staff by saying the above though. This is what I believe anyways. heck, he may be legit and would be a newsmaker.

K, just making a suggestion, protecting a resource was just a concern. Anyway, It seems like the dude is willing to get fired as long as he takes Harvey with him. I guess we'll find out if Saban lives up to his threats, as well as his promises.

Well said!

If the 2005 version of DEEP THROAT is too stupid to pull something like this off, that's his problem not ours!

Just wanted to reiterate that I added the above to a previous post.

What really got the Sentinel mad was when this guy would post breaking news.

Usually stories are posted at midnight Eastern time on the Sentinel's site. But for some reason, some stories are released early to other papers. That's why sometimes you see a story in the Mercury from Cole or Marvez at 8 PM that isn't anywhere on the Herald or Sentinel site. It isn't like that for all stories, but some. I don't know why.

Anyway, when this guy would see one of these stories come across the wire (or whatever), he'd post it here (not the entire story, but the jist of what was going to be said). The problem arose when other newspapers would see it here, check it out, and then break the news on THEIR site BEFORE the Sentinel posted it.

THAT'S what the big deal was. That's what got him fired. The Sentinel would break the story.....only to have another paper swoop in and post it first. This is what happened with the Will Poole ACL tear.

PressCoverage wasn't an insider anything. Just a guy in the newspaper biz who reported what was about to print.

So PressCoverage worked at the Sentinal?

This other guy professing to be an insider is an asswipe as well. He's just regurgataing stuff from the papers. NONE of his info is new.

What about the Harvey Greene stuff? Where have you seen that in the papers?

Ethan Skolnick actually told me this personally...PressCoverage made a thread in the comments section asking if people didnt buy papers because of this, but it wasnt about whether the paper lost readers, it was totally about the breaking news. PC missed the whole point.

As for whether he was a sentinel employee, he claimed he wasnt and somehow saw the paper another way.

I missed the Harvey Greene stuff. What was that?

Wow, I didn't know PressCoverage got fired. Sad for him, but when you play with fire you run the risk of being burned.

Not sure exactly where he worked. But it wasn't the Sentinel.

Exactly. He still didn't get it, even after he was fired.
