The new Dolphins staff has created a very negative vibe with the JT deal.... to Dolphin players.... to Dolphin fans (some).... to the media .... and to the league....

They have basically gone on record and publicly stated what JT represents to the Dolphins and to the NFL means ZERO....

They have allowed JT to say all the right things... and it doesn't make the Dolphins Trio look good.... not that they sweem to care....

Importantly.... at the end of the day... and it's a fact.... JT not only says the right things... he backs it up with action....

There was no need to escalate the JT situation... there was no upside... and the downside continues to find new depths....

Although I am in full support of the Trio.... if they continue to conduct business in this manner.... with star players.... with stars of the league... then I suspect the rebuild to last longer than anticipated... because players won't buy into the process... FA's won't want to come to the Dolphins... and it'll just be another short term 3 year deal... and the Dolphins will be looking for the "next" staff to turn it around....

great that means they'll have to build through the draft and thats all fine with me... no more old farts that want tons of money before they retire...

Are you kidding me?? JT has said all the right things? OK - how about I'm heading home for the 1st time in 3 months to play in my golf tournament and I'll deal with football later. Meanwhile 80 guys are busting their tails in offseason workouts. Yep there is the team leader for ya.
How about football starts in July - sure JT - I'm sure that is when you have started every year right?? His head is so big it's ridiculous. Amen for Tuna kicking him to the curb - I agree not cutting his butt - make him retire rather than go somewhere and get a new contract. CYA JT - go try and make a movie - I need to see a good comedy!!

I still can't figure out how people think this is simply the FO making life tougher on themselves for no reason. Honestly there is enough of a hill to climb here without making it a bigger hill. Obviously the FO, more so BP wasn't happy JT decided to go dancing rather then join the off season program, but I think even BP was willing to look past that if JT made it back to camp for the first OTA's.

Does anyone who believes JT is the victim in all of this believe JT is the one who decided to saty in Cali and make other plans to do TV guest shots and head to the Midwest for his charity golf events rather then heading back to Miami to be a part of this team? Nobody made JT make those choices!! Also this is not the first time JT has whined about retirement or not being happy with the team, so is it beyond conceivable to think that JT is the one mucking up the water, or at the very least part of the reason?

I believe JT is the main reason there are problems here with JT. I'll guarantee had JT not gone dancing with the starts and he was here now doing what everyone else on the team is doing there wouldn't be a problem at all. Some fans are are strange birds, they complain because this team isn't winning, but when we finally go out and get a guy who's system has simply worked with every team he's been associated with you then question his methods and take the side of the one player who isn't acting in the "TEAMS" best interest.

JT has his whole life ahead of him, he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants when his football career, moreover his contract is up with the Dolphins. He needs to get his butt to Miami and help this team cause you know Damn good and well that's the bottom line with BP and company. Which afterall is what everyone who gets a check from WH is paid to do!!

Here is the JT vs FO thread of the day. Once again it starts with a JT apologist.

Its unreal that anyone thinks JT has "said all the right things".

Hopefully, JT comes to camp, works his a** off, and helps our young guys soon. Then as the season starts trade him for top value like we did Chambers, and everyone is happy. JT to a contender, we get the #1 pick (or close to it) BP and co. are looking for, and JT goes out on a better note. Right now, he is hurting his own legacy here, and its sad.

Go Zach, win a ring.

The FO have said all along they want JT to play. JT hasn't made any football related comments of true value.

if anything.. it's the MEDIA making this worse that it is.

What exactly has the "trio" said to make this worse? Nothing.

If JT wasn't on DWTS, or Parcells wasn't here, this would'nt be an issue.

to be fair, the 'trio' held a press conference for the sole purpose of telling the world jason was boycotting all camps. why you ask? i have no idea.

Was that truly the sole purpose? Or were they rather answering a question during a press conference after an OTA?

I remember it being the latter as I remember Sparano stating it was the last time he going to answer those questions as he wanted to talk about players that were actually participating.

come on. that could have been handled differently and you know it. that media feeding was just parcells stamping his name on this team. he wanted you to pick sides. was he successful? which side did you pick?

A new regime cannot establish a new culture of committment to winning on a football team by condoning a star player skipping all off-season work and potentially even training camp. JT forced them into the position they have taken.

I totally disagree with your post and think you greatly overestimate the negative impact of not kissing JT's arse.

Its exactly because they have taken this stance that future players will understand this team is serious about football and the right kind of players will be attracted to this team. Let the primadonna's play elsewhere.

Which side? I have always been on the side of the "Miami Dolphins", the team. Individual players come and go, no one player will ever be bigger than the team, nor should any fan place them there.

I love JT and I love the football he's played here, but its obvious his mind is wondering away from the Miami Dolphins so its a no brainer for me who I support.

:up::up::up:

I'm glad you wrote that, because I didn't get to it fast enough.

JT either plays as a Dolphin or retires, and in many ways I think the Trio hopes he does the latter and not the former.

Parcells was never a well liked Coach and it's not surprising that his antagonistic tactics as VP are alienating players. His approach has been widely touted as shortening many professionals' careers as well. So, a situation like this was rather expected. JT has said for years now that he doesn't want to be part of a rebuilding effort and he was against the jettisoning of key veterans like McMichael and now Zach. He is like most 34 year old veterans, he doesn't need training camp and the extra work is more likely to wear him down than it is to improve his technique or performance. Many coaches--including Don Shula and Jimmy Johnson--let selected key older veterans either take a light load with lots of time on the training table for phantom nicks or just plain show up late to training camp. Parcells doesn't do that.

Since JT wears down as the season progresses, it's probably wisest to let him take a slower approach to the season than the younger players. He knows this, in fact I bet the entire FO and coaching staff knows this as well. But, the fact remains that Parcells & Co. always draw a bright line under this type of thing and make no exceptions, it's not the drills that are important to them, it's the principle. So, we have a pizzing contest.

When Wayne brought in Parcells he had to know this was going to happen, because it's as predictable as the 34 defense and smashmouth offense. This is one of Parcells' trademarks, like it or not. He hand-picked the staff, so you know they're going to toe the line with things like this. Personally, I think Sparano would rather cut JT some slack, but it just isn't going to happen, because Sparano isn't in charge, and everyone knows that.

I'm going to go on record and say..... I don't give a $#!% about this subject anymore.
it will play itself out, and until then I will not comment on this topic again.
