This proud franchise has dropped so low because of a lack of focus on what is truly important on offense. The line.

Great offensive lines make average runners look great. Good offensive lines make average quarterbacks look special.

Its very frustating when you come to realize that we could dominate (even with Gus Frerotte) on offense with these two backs if our offensive line was even above average.

Bill Parcells was reminded by a reporter that he only had a handful of players left on the Cowboys from the previous regime only a few years earlier. His response: "Good".

This is not Nick Saban's fault. You can't make chicken salad out of chichen ****. Nick will turn this around but we have to be patient. This team has very little young talent due to poor drafts.

Be patient.

im gonna stick with QB on this one.

if gus connects downfield, fins win. untill gus can break the 8 and 9 man fronts, the fins will not win, regardless of what the o-line does

This is what happens when you sign no pro-bowl free agents nor draft a lineman higher than the 3rd round in 5 years (other than Carey, who's sitting on the bench). If Houck wasn't here we couldn't even run an NFL offense with this mess.

This is nuts. Look at SD's line last year. 3rd and 4th and 7th round picks all starting and playing well.

You don't need to draft linemen in the first three rounds every year. That's a waste as it will weaken other parts of your roster.

We spent a 1 on Carey, a 2 and a 3 on Wade Smith, a 3 on Taylor Whitley and a 3 on McKinney. That's enough ammo for a good line if the guys who run your front office have any clue what they're doing.

Common denominator on all the draft picks above- they are all soft (mentally and.or physically) and were drafted by two brain dead "football men" who couldn't scout talent to save their lives.

We passed on Vince Wilfork and our 4th rounder because Rick spielman is as soft as the guy he "had to have"

You are correct, sir. The single most important part of any football team is the offensive line, period. The teams who have a good line are the teams that win. We need to improve the o-line if we want to improve offensively. That will take some time.

Right, but that's a real risky way of doing things. You're taking your chances trying to hit on guys drafted in the 3rd or lower. Much less risky to sign proven free agents or draft guys in the 1st or 2nd. You replace Jamar Fletcher and Eddie Moore with offensive linemen and this is a totally different team.

You only have to look at Green Bay and see how they are doing now. The Packers havnt had a good defense for a while but Favre has always had top OL in front of him. They have lost 2 of those guys now and they have come to a grinding halt. We do need to judge next season tho IMO because Saban has only just got here and its way to early until we use some of our cap space and draft picks to get maybe 2 quality OL in.

Did you watch the Seahawks game Sunday night?

Yes, Hasslebeck had a lot to do with looking special. Same with the fact that the Texans suck.

The line was giving Gus plenty of time when he was missing wide open guys down field. If he hits just one of those Tampa would not have gone crazy in the second half. They realized that he could not hit a wide open guy, so why bother covering anyone, just send the house... and it worked.

Although the pass blocking is subpar, it is not the aspect of the line that most bothers me. It is the inability to open any holes for our backs. If they could do that even a little bit, it would not allow other teams to "send everybody".

Keep in mind, gus is what he is. He is a journeyman. But, try to remember that Sage threw three picks againts Baltimore last year, so he is no quick fix.

Why did the Texans suck?

Hint.....And that is not because they don't have talent at QB!

He's right. If your O-line sucks, then you can't do anything. Did anyone watch the Pats and Broncos game? If you watched the Pats last year, Brady hardly ever got hit. Yesterday with 2 rookies, and 1 getting ejected later in the game showed a lot of weakness because every other time Brady dropped back to pass he was getting smacked by the Broncos front 7, and even a couple of times by that rookie cornerback derrent williams. It is clear that if you have no o-line your QB can't sit in the pocket and get comfortable. WE NEED AN O-LINE, IT'S NO SECRET!
