Prisco article about huge amount of penalties this year

The man in charge of officials has stated that he will not be concerned until midseason. He seems to be an up front guy who is accesible so I will believe him until..................midseason.

i think the nfl is gonna be a touch footballl league pretty soon because their making all of these soft rules

i dont think its the average or even the total number of flags that should be argued. the arguement should be about what the refs call as a penalty.

the NFL has tightened its rules a bit on what players can and can not do, especially as to roughing the passer calls and "illegal contact" calls on the secondary.

i do not think the refs are "trying to get their 5 min. of fame". thats a big insult to the refs. during the game, they usually show a replay of the penalty. most of the time, we all agree it was a penalty. maybe 2 or 3 times in a game we can question weather it should be called. but they are only human. and they are trying to watch 22 guys running around full speed, and the refs also have to make sure they dont get runover by a player.

no coach is gunna like the refs calling 15+ penalties on their team. but the way i see it, the player should realize what the refs are calling illegal, and dont do it.

Ravens: 21
Fins: 18
Bucs: 12
Bengals: 12

so it seems to me that the fins and ravens are the onces who screwed up the average last weekend. i didnt watch the ravens game, but i saw the fins game. and i remember only 2 calls that could have been "no-calls" on the fins.

i just dont like seeing players or coaches blame the refs for their players making mistakes.

yeah, there going to wait til midseason because by then, they cant control the outcomes without serious scrutiny by then.

the refs are not being fair and equitable in about 1/4 of these games every week. They call too much on one team, and nothing on the other. Then you get players ready to pounce on the ref cus they know they are full of it sometimes.

no matter what happens, a player can NEVER "punce" on the refs. they did that in the ravens game, i saw the highlights. the ravens head coach lost control of his players.

but just becuase one team has twice the penalties than the other, doesnt mean the refs are unfair.

Well said! What about player responsiblity? They know they rules and are getting big bucks to play within them not to hurt their teams with stupid mistakes. I rarely see a penality that was called that should not have been. But, I often see penalities that should have been called but were not.

* Now I must go punish myself for agreeing with a bills fan. :) jk
