Here's the choice parts... This might help a SLOW day...

Miami Dolphins

Overrated: Will Allen has the look of a Pro Bowl corner, but he just doesn't seem to play the ball well. Allen comes to the Dolphins as a free agent from the New York Giants.
Underrated: Center Rex Hadnot moves over from guard and should upgrade that position. Hadnot is a tough guy who might have been the Dolphins' best lineman in 2005.

New England Patriots

Overrated: Running back Corey Dillon is nearing the end. He had trouble with injuries last year and his numbers dropped off. Rookie Laurence Maroney will key the running game.
Underrated: Tight end Ben Watson is ready to join the elite of his position. Watson caught 29 passes last season and he will at least double that this season.

New York Jets

Overrated: Running back Curtis Martin has been an all-time Jets great. But it's over. Martin is no longer an elite back and it showed last season when he rushed for a career-low 735 yards.
Underrated: Defensive end Shaun Ellis doesn't get a lot of attention, but he simply goes out and makes plays. He should be comfortable playing end in the new 3-4 scheme.

Buffalo Bills

Overrated: Strong-side linebacker Jeff Posey had a good year in 2004, but he didn't do much last season. He struggles in coverage and there's a chance he could lose his job,
Underrated: Right tackle Jason Peters is a former tight end who is learning the position. He has outstanding athletic ability and is already the best player on the Bills line. He can be a Pro Bowl tackle.

Curtis Martin, Overrated--never. Old maybe. End of career maybe, but no one really expects a great deal from him this year, so not overrated. Over extended, yes

Agree with our underrated... Allen at this point is a bit overhyped as well, but you have to realize what Saban can possibly do to help him...

Good But Ronnie Brown Is Underated And Doesnt Get That Much Attention

That kept me entertained for a few minutes... thanks!

I think Hadnot is definitely underrated around the league-- maybe not by us, but the average NFL fan, certainly.

I don't know that Will Allen is particularly overrated at this point. Everyone knows he has good/great cover ability but struggles to play the ball and has bad hands. I'm hoping Saban gets a little more out of him, but he's adequate. Certinly not Pat Surtain though... sigh

Thats exactly what I was thinking when I read Allen's name. Lets see how he plays under Saban

Everyone knows bout his hands but many say he's a cover liability after Santana beat him badly...But if you check the tape on one of them he's in a zone and he passes Moss off to the safety, but the safety was out of position.. TD. One fo the other was his fault, and the ramsey one was almost picked off...

eh, its an OK list but A LOT of those players are not overrated, simply old. they list players like john lynch, brett favre, curtis martin, sammy knight, isaac bruce etc etc.

NONE of those players are considered anything special at this point in their careers. they all had good reps and all did well to deserve it, but no one is praising the play of favre, or sammy knight or anything anymore, so why is he being so dumb and naming them?

also, its really poorly written - on some teams you dont even know who they are talking about, and he doesnt refer to first names and some only the last name in the last sentence.

Even the best corners get beat regulary, its the nature of the position. That game didn't overly scare me. Its not like that happened to him every week. IMO, what hurts Allen isnt so much that he gets beat in coverage way too much, but that he will give up catches or miss gimme pics by playing the ball poorly when he is in position. I don't know that his reactions will ever change, but hopefully Nick can help him with technique to see the ball better and take better angles. I'm hoping he's solid. Madison was definitely on the decline so I think it made sense to try to get a younger guy with some upside in here-- a younger guy not named Reggie Howard. :-)

I agree with Will Allen being over-rated. He has been known to get beat on deep plays, and was pretty much a ''madison for allen'' swap.

I believe he is also under-rated, he is built like a pro-bowl cornerback, and i hope he shines under saban, who usually works with cornerbacks, and also under our new defensive cordinator

Who has hyped him?
They signed him because he's younger and faster than Madison. Allen still has room to improve and Madison is slipping.

i agree. as much as i hate the team, the guy's always been class act. i love his quiet demeanor. back in his prime and even a few years ago, he'd just go out and get the job done. but he is getting old.
