I dont get putting the pro bowl before the superbowl? Especially If we have a team in the superbowl. What do they expect the players that are playing in the Super Bowl to do? Play in a meaningless game and risk injury? I think not! I think its time to make the Pro Bowl Cerimonial. Just an award and a check.

Nobody in the superbowl will be at the probowl, this move to the middle of 2 weeks before the big game makes sense because it gives the media something else to talk about. After the Superbowl nobody gives a hoot about this game. This will be another party atmosphere to promote the superbowl.

this really makes the pro bowl meaningless. They should just cancel the game. Keep giving out the awards for the ones who make it but dont play the game.

isnt the probowl the week after the superbowl? correct me if im wrong. i just check NFL.com and it says Feb. 8th...and superbowl is Feb.1?

I mean its a good idea, but the big question and obstacle is . . . what about the super bowl teams? Who is going to play in a Pro Bowl if they have the Super Bowl the following week.

And usually a Super Bowl team has a few pro bowlers. So this year . . . we would see no Warner, Fitz, Boldin, Polamalu, Harrison . . . that would really SUCK.

That being said, I am hoping to get tickets to the event at Dolphins stadium next year . . . that thing is going to be sweet . . . especially the after parties.

makes the pro bowl meaningless???? isn't it already??? what is the point of it... nothing??? just an opportunity for more money to be made, some fans to get autographs and meet players... and people to take vacations down in hawaii.... not a bad gig, but i think meaningless.

i dont even remember the last time i watched one. i dont even follow the voting or who is invited... never would of known Jake Long was going if it wasn't for this site.

They need to do away with the probowl period. It's meaningless either way. There is no point in playing the probowl. You can't even blitz. It's understandable that players dont want to risk injury, but football is a game of injuries....so how can you play it and try to avoid it?

Yea, it's already meaningless. I think moving it up before the SB will help ratings a little, but I still don't like the idea. Neither SB team will let their players participate in the pro bowl.

Like I said....I see the point though. Try to improve ratings. For most people, football is over after the SB. I've watched every SB since I was about 5 or 6 years old. I've watched half of ONE pro bowl, that's it. Not even a whole game.

It was announced that players voted to the Pro Bowl that are on the Super Bowl teams will not play in the Pro Bowl. They will still be honored, such as a player that is injured and an alternate goes in their place (i.e Jason Peters injured in comes Jake Long, and Peters is still a Pro Bowler of 2008).

I think it is dump, the Pro Bowl is just a way to get money, and stems back to the begining of the NFL when the NFL Championship team would play the college All-Stars. However if they are going to have it let the players have a chance to play in it. Their thought is, a player who just traveled to the Super Bowl and played their last game is going to want a much needed rest like the other teams had, and would not want to play in the Pro Bowl.

Stupid idea!
