As much credit as we give Ozzie....it doesn't look like he been as effective as he was when the franchise started

Every team with 4+ has been to the playoffs except the Browns.

And you should cut Newsome some slack, I'd trade a million Mike Pouncey's for one SB MVP...

I was more shocked then anything else I would rate him right behind Schneider as the second best GM in the NFL

I challenge the credibility of that list. How long ago was Paul soali drafted. Didn't rashard Jones and pouncy both make the pro bowl as well.

Dang jones got snubbed and soali was in 2007. Hartline was an alternative

Spielman's actually done a halfway decent job in Minnesota, except for the fact that his quarterbacks are all hot garbage.

Those guys only made the pro bowl because the first and second options were either inured or washing their Bentley.
None of those guys are the best at their positions. The pro bowl is not what it used to be IMHO
The only players we have drafted since 2008 that deserved to be in the pro bowl was Jake Long. His game broke down and after he stopped lifting.
This team screams mediocrity in terms of drafted talent. The best players we have had were FA signings. Most have come and gone.

Speilman was never much more than a rubber stamp for Wanny. His relative success with MN only serves to emphasize that despite The Stache's moderate success on the field - in reality he set this franchise back as much if not more than any other of the usual bozo suspects.

Newsome is widely recognized as a top GM but, had JaMarkus Russell as the highest rated player in his draft history. IF he would have picked him, he very likely have been fired. The draft is a roll of the dice.

I think their opinion might have changed if they actually had the number one pick or even a high pick. Look at Russell's stats in college and they are nothing special to say the least, not sure what other grading system they have besides stats buts its hard to believe.

The reality is the Ravens knew they weren’t going to draft Russell: Baltimore went 13-3 the year before and had the 29th pick in the draft, and they were gearing up for another playoff run with quarterback Steve McNair while still hoping McNair’s young backup, Kyle Boller, would develop into a quality NFL starter some day. The Ravens probably gave that high grade to Russell without digging too deep because they knew he wouldn’t be coming to Baltimore.

One lesson we should take from Newsome and the Ravens is its really hard to draft probowlers when you are always picking late, this is why we should think long and hard before voluntarily moving back to late first.
