There will likely be trades. Vick continuing to take punts is a sign to me that he will make the squad. He will serve as a punt returner and kickoff return guy, and is capable enough as a receiver. Gibson never really got on track tonite, nor did any other receiver outside the starters for that matter. Carolina's backups are clearly better than Miami's backups on defense. I expect Murphy to be cut. Gibson is iffy as is Russell. I am not sure at this point whether one of them will be traded or not.
I am more inclined to say that Vickerson and Zgnonia will go somewhere. Vickerson played very late in the game and I didn't see Jeff play that much at all, but maybe he did and I just missed it.
Evans looks like he belongs and that would be a huge shock if he didnt make the roster.
Newman played pretty well, and Hodges has shown me little. I would not be shocked if another linebacker comes to Miami via cuts or trades,as has been posted in other threads (e.g., Miller from Cincy).
While Daniels isn't going anywhere, I am not sure Lehan will make the team. Here again, I expect waiver or trade action to occur.
Rader probably will not make the roster. Do you keep 2 tight ends and 2 fullbacks? Beasley could serve as a H-back type and he is better than Rader. I haven't really been impressed with Peele either.
I have seen so little from Anderson, that it honestly wouldn't shock me if he got cut and Miami sought a replacement. I dont see practice but I would sincerely consider moving Berger in there from what I have seen. I also thought James struggled tonite, but Jenkins is the man, no shame in that. He might be the most dominate d lineman in the league.
And lastly, I would look for a backup rb tonite. Miami in my mind needs to put this at the top of the list. I expect action there.

Any thoughts?

I agree with your assessment of Vick. I think he is a lock. Evans is a lock as well. Gibson would have been a lock if he didn't drop that pass. I still think he will make the team though.

I really think we will make at least one trade. we just have way too much depth at DL and WR. I guess we will see in the next week or so.

I agree with most of what you said except...Gibson has looked very good this preseason. This was just an off night. We DO NOT NEED to look for a backup running back. Sammy Morris will be fine. Besides, what running back on another team can come in and learn the system well enough to be the backup?

My guess is that there will be 5 WRs on the final roster. They are (in order): Chambers, Booker, Welker, Hagan and #5 guy. So if Vick makes the team, he will probably fill this spot. That would bump Gibson, Russell and Murphy, which are the only other 3 WRs challenging for the #5 spot.

At RB, neither Kay Jay or Riggs has shown anything BETTER than Minor. So I don't see how Minor gets the boot. Ronnie will have to stay healthy while Sammy and Travis do the backup work.

I would like to see the Dolphins keep both Beasley AND Barnes. If that means going with only two TEs, so be it. Two FBs will mean fresh blocking for Ronnie. He will need that. Trust me.

I think Vickerson may edge out Zgonina. So Zgonina could be trade material.

Hodge has been non-existent. I haven't seen him even make a tackle. Newman, however, has been around the ball and making plays. I like Newman backing up Spragan.

Berger played center tonight and looked pretty good. If he can play center and guard, I think he makes the squad. Anderson is a veteran, so he might get better with more time. But I would like to see McKinney get back from his surgery.

I think Peele is a lock to make the team...not only he was really impressive in camp ( we have our greatest success running the ball in the 2 TE formation ) he had a pretty decent game and made a nice catch..and shall Randy get hurt, he's by far our 2nd best option..and i believe we are set at RB position with the people we already have here..there's no need to trade away our picks for people like Lamar Gordon...and unless there's a major surprise cut, i don't think any of the free agent RBs out there will be much better than Sammy, Minor and Harris

How is Vick a lock ? I was hoping he would do something tonight but it never materlized, Not saying it was his fault, but he did nothing to make the team tonight.:tantrum:

I think he makes the team, and most of that assessment

will likely come from practice versus the three games. If Gibson makes the squad it will likely come from games and recent practice. Russell also has produced in practice and in games. But you do not see Russell or Gibson involved in the kicking game other than as fliers. No returns. I just don't think Murphy, Gibson, or Russell make the team.

Not necessarily based on his performance but his versatility, potential, and the fact that he is 2nd string punt returner and kickoff returner. Plus, because of his versatility, I think if Saban likes him and wants to develop him he cannot cut him to put on the practice squad. I just dont think he will clear waivers.
