New Orleans stuffed the formation to the tune of 27 yards on 14 plays. Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune says the Saints did it by being the aggressors. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams blitzed cornerbacks Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter everytime Ronnie Brown went in shotgun. Safety Roman Harper also attacked often. The result was four tackles for losses and Miami's best gain from the formation was eight yards.

I am guessing we will definitely see this strategy used by both the Jets and the Pats. Hopefully David Lee has a new wrinkle in mind to take care of this. However, I feel if our receivers block well this shouldn't be a problem at all.

This may also be one of the reasons we drafted Pat White.

duh, I've been shutting down the wildcat in madden with this strategy since preseason.

/sarcasm.

Let's hope Ginn isn't one of the receivers that has to block for the Wildcat on a CB blitz.

Pat White wsn't drafted for this sesaon - expect a completely new wrinkle in the next few years...., the run blitz will be at the Ds risk..., not this year..., but next year watch the hell - out comes Wildcat RW on the sweep and the Wildcat becomes PWhite also P. White can line up behind center and RB becomes the WC on the sweep...

Thanks for letting us know you were being sarcastic - jeez where do they get these guys...?

That's what I kept screaming at the TV watching thier corners and safties blitz the corner " PASS THE (&*#@^%$Q$@$ BALL!"

They don't even have to throw deep.. Just 5-8 yrd passes to keep the D honest. It's a simple solution. We did it in high school (not running the wildcat) but when we saw teams wanting to bring the house to stop our run we would throw little high percentage passes... In 4 of our games that this happened to us it only took 3 plays the first, 2 plays the second and 1 play the next and 1 play the following game... When you start showing the D you are not afraid to throw, they back off, if not they get scored on...

We got points out of it, and then stopped using it. I don't think it was "stopped" by the Saints. Perhaps by ourselves.

We need to develop more passes and some counters to keep the other defense honest. If they are going to blitz their corners we should just be throwing quick passes to the WR.

now miami is 2/4 they will play pat more. However it wont come with the jets game. unless pat is really alsome in pratice.

Trust me, many of you need help with detecting sarcasm.

I doubt Pat White will be nearly as effective as a Wildcat player as Ronnie Brown. I'd much rather see him in the game.

They split Henne out wide to disguise the package most of the game, something they did not really do in earlier games, and Henne basically walked backwards after the snap so he was not a free target for the corner. If I was a corner I would blitz after seeing that.

The Fins would have been better off taking the QB out of the formation and just going with a power formation. Of course, if you have a real threat split out wide Ronnie could throw over there.

Most teams are not going to be caught off guard by the Wildcat anymore and I doubt they need to sub out much for the package.

well if fasano had caught ronnie's pass then what would this report be saying? /shrug I'm so over last weeks game lets move on.
