What is the projected salary cap relief if both BA and Pouncey do not return next year?

I'm looking for a detailed answer on what we gain and how we might apply that money elsewhere. :ponder:

Pre June 1st that is correct but post June 1st
his dead money is $3 million and his cap savings would be $5,975,000

Yea but that money just doesn't vanish, we still take the hit in 2018.

Either way the money is not that drastic for a guy who, when healthy, is one of the top centers in the league.

Albert is a much more likely victim, mainly because of the Tunsil pick.

This draft needs to be defense . . . top to bottom. Fins may have to cross their fingers on OL health if they must, but OL cannot be addressed anywhere in the first 4 rounds of this draft and thinking you can get a bonafide starter after that is wishful thinking at best.

To be honest, it would make more sense to cut Maxwell and restructure/replace Misi next year. That's a good chunk of change right there. Draft LB/CB in the draft, depth on OL in FA (backload/guarantee money in 2018), and make the Albert/Pouncey cuts in 2018 when we have established starters to step in.

There are going to be injuries on OL. All the time. I'm convinced it's more about decent-quality depth than first-round picks at every position and turnstiles as depth behind them. Hopefully Urbik and Steen prove me right this weekend.

Right. And you know who else we can cut in 2017 and free up over 3m?

Dion Freaking Jordan.

You cant get rid of guys before you have their replacements... Injury proned or not. We got into this mess by thinking we have the luxury of finding quality replacements. its not that simple

id draft a guard in round 1 or 2. If there's anyone that can't see what type of impact a healthy solid offensive line creates, they're blind. Our defense has gotten much better over the past month and with Culliver and Howard coming back soon, the only positions I'd address are the linebackers and defensive ends. I wouldn't go nuts drafting all defense with this years draft IMO.

They get to see Steen at Center more this year and decide if he is starter next year or depth. Tunsil is the LT either next year or for sure the following year. Were probably in a situation where we need to try and squeeze another year or part of one out of Pouncey or Albert.

No illusions though despite what Gase said, Pouncey's hips are career threatening, its not like he wont continue to have problems playing. The Albert move to guard thing doesnt seem like its really in the future either.

I know people hate to hear it, but we need to draft another OL next year. And we need to continue infusing talent into this OL yearly. Steen was a great find and should develop nicely. I see him as a long term answer.

People have been banging on the "Cut Albert" drum for so long, they can't see that Pouncey has become as much or greater liability. I do know I'd rather have Albert in the locker room grooming Tunsil than Pouncey in there. Albert has tremendous value as Tunsil's mentor.

Honestly, I think the real answer is to restructure both, kick Albert inside to LG, draft a C/G and bring in another OL from FA. Then draft D in every other round. We need Albert and Pouncey for at least one more year to mitigate the number of holes needing attention next year. But while keeping them, we need to become less dependent on them. Call it a "transition period". And I would like to think Steen can develop into our starting C.

So when Pouncey and Albert are out of the lineup we give up about 4 sacks per game. When they are in we give up <1 per game. But we should cut Pouncey (in his prime)? Not following the logic.
