On the basis of what we have I see it panning out like this

Recievers

Ginn
Wilford
Hagan
Perry
Bess

Far from ideal but I think the first 2 are locks and then Hagan and Perry are on the bubble. If Keyshawn comes in one of these guys is out of here. I think Bess has a lot of potential and gets the no. 5 spot.

I like Camarillo but I think he's gone as he is only a possession type guy and Wilford and Hagan (if he can get his head screwed on already cover this need)

We're missing another burner and maybe we pick one up in F/A

Tight Ends

Fasano
Peele
Ryan

First I think Martin is gone. Whilst he has skills he is too inconsistant and brittle to warrant a roster spot. I'm looking for Fasano to have a Bavaro like impact. Peele we know is solid if unspectacular and Ryan is there purely to open holes.

Looks serviceable but all depends on the OL and obviously the Qb (who I think is going to be Henne)

Incidentally, what number does Keyshawn wear if he comes in ?. #19 is gone so what would he go with - what did he wear at USC, anyone know?

Well I think WR was definitely out of the plans this year . . . but Parcells is gonna play power football.

2 TE's
I formations

truth is . . . we wont see more than 3 WR's . . . . and maybe Hagan isn't the answer as a #3 . . . hell Ginn hasn't proven to be a #1 yet . . . but it just wasn't a high priiority for the fins FO . . . and we will find out this year if we need to go after WR early in the draft next year.

U know, there is still a chance that Ginn can be a #1 . . . and Hagan and Wilford be solid #2's . . . .

Yeah, I fixed it :foundout:

You need to watch film on Fortson... He's alot more talented than Bess.....

Receivers....

I'll give it a go...
WR 1....Ginn...JLong will do for him and Beck, what JThomas did for Braylon Edwards and DAnderson....

WR2...EWilford
WR3...Dhagen
WR4...Tperry, Kircus
WR5...Bess

With a much improved Oline, I think the ripple effect will greatly improve this group. Remember we had CLemon and Joey Harrington as our Qb's the last 2 years with very poor/incomplete line...By bring in Jlong and Smiley to go with Carey and Satelle, we are almost there...Also don't forget, with Ronnie Brown and Rickey our Running Backs are one of the best tandems in the NFL....

Fortson?

If you mean Foster then I agree but I can't see how this guy is not going to get killed in the NFL

I thought of this too. But then I also thought hey, a much smaller, lighter, shiftier, elusive target is more difficult to get a clean "Kenoy Kennedy"-type hit on like Chambers got.

I hope this kid makes the team because 1) he looks like he is fun to root for, and 2) he is an underdog at this level and people love to see success stories - especially if his success means Dolphin wins.

At this point, I would like to see:

1. Ginn - the speed receiver
2. Wilford - the big possession receiver
3. Bess - the talented finesse (get open in the seams and pockets) receiver
4. Foster - the scatback do it all receiver
(an ultimate screen pass hiding behind big linemen receiver)
5. Camarillo - the game winner "give it all your heart" receiver

The most difficult thing for Foster would be that he is so under-tall, that he might be difficult for the QB to find him in his route traffic. The QB would just have to throw the ball to a "spot" knowing/hoping Foster will get there at the same time as the ball.

At this point, I see less of a 1st, 2nd, & 3rd receiver configuration and more of a situational receiver situation. Some receivers can really stretch the field like Ginn and Selwyn Lymon [sp] and possibly Foster. Others are big bodies in small spaces. Others (Bess) can make the great catches in end-zone corners look like child's play. Foster's the invisible man: there one instant - gone the next. Now, I see Hagan as merely a backup to Wilford as that possession role receiver. He hasn't shown the consistency to earn anything more. I know very little about Perry, but I would group him with Camarillo (probably wrong).

Ultimately, I see us keeping five receivers: Ginn, Wilford, Hagan or Perry, Bess, Foster. At this point, I think Hagan's best value is as trade bait. Kircus and Camarillo may be best on ST as flys, but I see Perry and Foster returning punts.

I agree with the reciever that you have up, but i dont see Keyshawn coming back. We filled the need with Wilford. Tab is pretty fast , he use to KR. I see Bess making the team as a slot receiver and KR.

Martin is out, The to locks are I think Fasano & Peelle. I would like to say Ryan could make the team, but I see him competing with some of the UDFA TE

I think we will see a lot of experiments this year. Early on I think your right and we will see a lot of power ball but let's be realistic, this team is going to be playing from behind more than we hope so they will have to figure ways to score quicker.

I think we will either have the answer if Ginn is the #1 guy buy mid-seaon or not. If not wouldn't be quite a shock to see Bess, an undrafted FA winn the starting #1 WR job.

If I were the Dolphins I would try to trade Hagen for something because he apparently isn't the answer either.

I think guys like Camarillo & Kircus will make the team over guys like Bess & Foster due to their ability to play special teams.

Come on man . . . u can't expect me to take this post seriously after that statement . . . and Hagan is just in year 3 . . . how can be the judge of "he isn't the answer" . . . especially with the poor QB play we have seen on this team.

U are gonna take Bess over Ginn and Wilford . . . to "not shock" you if he wins the #1 WR. I think you are in lala land with that suggestion. It would SHOCK me if he beats out Hagan . . . we seem to go through this every year . . . last year . . . man Sutton and Reed could be our starting WR's by the end of the year . . . . the year before . . . oh Vick and Gibson is the future . . . please . . . these guys go undrafted for a reason, and though I think Bess was a very nice UDFA pickup . . . I honestly don't expect him to make the team . . . but that is me . . . u need WR's who are competing for the 4 and 5 spots to be special teams impact players . . . we already have Perry and Foyster seems to be well liked by the coach . . . Bess is gonna have to ball to make this team.

If Keyshawn comes in one of these guys is out of here.
Has anybody, anywhere actually read that Keyshawn is actually an option? There can be all the message board talk in the world, but until he says he's even thinking about it I'm not going to even think of it as an option. This guys been out of football for way to long now, and wasn't even that good toward the end of his playing days.

On the basis of what we have I see it panning out like this

Receivers:

Ted Ginn
Ernest Wilford
Derek Hagan
Tab Perry
Davone Bess

Far from ideal but I think the first 2 are locks and then Hagan and Perry are on the bubble. I think Bess has a lot of potential and gets the no. 5 spot.

Well RZA, I've got to tell you, I was thinking this over last night too, and this is what I've come up with:

As of last Sunday night, I pretty much had your five making the team. Then, to follow up on what KDawg said, it hit me that there's a reason these guys go undrafted.

I too, agree that Ginn and Wilford are locks. If Tab Perry is healthy, I think he's in too. Then, whereas last year Camarillo and Hagan were on the roster together, I think they're kind of competing with each other for a spot (and some of the newbs too) due to similar skill sets. We only need so many possession guys. And that brings me to.....

That # 5 spot:

David Kircus
Davone Bess
Jayson Foster
Selwyn Lymon
Marcel Reece
Justin Wynn

What do we do here? Well, Kircus and Lymon have had some character questions, but might have the best opportunity to make the team from a talent standpoint. Wynn's a community college player who's got the farthest to go to make that impact and show he belongs, so I don't give him much of a chance of making it. Reece is really more a possession guy too but seems to catch what comes his way so I think he's got a shot. Foster seems like a guy they want for KR/PR duties. If he's durable and fast enough, he might get in although it might not be to play wideout here.

And then there's Bess.....after the first couple of days, I'm holding off of ordering my # 15 jersey. :) We knew going in he's more a possession/slot WR but we fell in love with his overall #s at Hawaii. But in a couple of days here, he's had some drops and some stamina issues (not only him, but still) and I started to think: he's a possession guy, not big, not a burner and if he's not catching the ball, it means he's nothing more than a smaller Hagan right now.

Now, this isn't to start a riot or anything because this is the guy I was hoping would make it, but I think currently he's got more ground to make up than the other newbs because of his size. At least Lymon, Reece, Kircus and Wynn have size. Bess doesn't so he's really got to show off his hands and route running ability to have a chance. That is something that after two days hasn't happened by all accounts. It can change once he gets his feet under him, so I wouldn't write him off just yet. But in the event it doesn't turn around for him, in the end, with no other cut players from other teams to factor in, I think we're looking at either Kircus with his experience making it as # 5, or Lymon if the staff feels his off the field stuff is behind him or even Reece with his size/receiving ability being that guy. Foster will have to show that he can field the ball on the fly, be a burner upfield and be durable enough to make it. (remember when we tried Marcus Vick there and he couldn't even field the ball? so it's not a given that Foster will kick butt doing those things just because he's fast)

Anyway, just my long winded take on it. But just know, I'm rooting for Bess and had him as our # 3 WR last week but now I think he's practice squad at best and maybe not even that. Hope I'm dead wrong though!

1 Ted Ginn
2 Ernest Wilford
3 Tab Perry
4 Derek Hagan
5 a) David Kircus, 5 b) Selwyn Lymon, 5 c) Marcel Reece

KR/PR Jayson Foster????

My thoughts:

Ginn and Wilford are locks

Hagan and Perry are probables, but they shouldn't feel comfortable

The 5th spot will likely go to whoever can be the best combination of slot receiver and special teamer. Bess and Camarillo are my favorites for this spot

I wouldn't be surprised if we kept a 6th receiver, especially if it is Jayson Foster. He could make it as the return man and might see the offense every now and then

All the other guys need to hope Hagan and Perry underachieve and maybe they can get a spot. My favorite in that scenario is Selwyn Lymon.

MY PREDICTION

WR1: Ginn
WR2: Wilford
Slot: Bess
Backups: Hagan, Perry

Jayson Foster makes the roster.
