Promoting Gaine makes the most sense!

Let's not get dramatic. Maybe Gaine works out. Drafts well. Does everything opposite of what he knows Ireland liked.

Maybe Philbin trajectory is akin to Pete Carroll. Successful once his third season hits.

And I'm truly confident in Lazor and Tannehill making some real strides together.

Gaine is unfairly judged just because he worked under Ireland. He isn't Jeff Ireland. For all we know he despised Ireland.

Gaine is well respected. He's not bottom of the barrel.

I hope it works. But I have zero confidence in the next of command to the guy we fired for sucking. Especially on the pro personnel side where we made some horrible mistakes

This franchise is in bad shape. And I don't think gaine will work out. I think we will be hiring a new power structure one year from now... I just hope that tannehill shows enough where a new power structure won't also be looking for a qb because that will set us back more than the one year we look to be set back now

Okay.. maybe Caserio is unfairly hyped up because he worked under Belichick.

Who would you rather have.

I know who we've drafted here, with Gaines assistance. Not impressed.

It is all about the odds and while I hope it works all out according to the football Gods and the rest of the league they are not betting on our organization

AP says Gaine is now the front runner.

I guess we are going to be told that after searching through all the candidates, they had the best one already here, just like we were told 10 years ago with Rick Spielman, after passing on Ted Thompson.

EXACTLY what I am thinking through this process.

we've been down this road. It's what initially led us here.

Now perpetuated. New owner, GM...

**** it.

I would have called him right after Cesario got his raise and paid him the same amount he got and then told him to ruin Ceasrio's day on draft day. Now that he is a known commodity in the Belichick Heirarchy.

I couldn't imagine a better vote of confidence by your current employer!

We'd be stuck with Gaine OR WORSE, for years, because what other GM would want to work for Ross knowing he could be fired after one year?

If Gaine has a pair, he resigns and finds a job elsewhere.

I just think Gaine brings the "chip on his shoulder" attitude, the feeling of "I have something to prove and I want a shot" quality that I admire so much. He will not approach this with a sense of entitlement.

I draw parallels with this search and my own personal experience. I sense that NO ONE would want the job more than Gaine, he has invested the last few years in the team, he lives here already, no moving family... and he can escape the parcells and ireland shadow ONCE AND FOR ALL.

Gaine is far and away the best one left, Hickey is acceptable in a MAJOR disaster (which is what we have now) and dawson should not even have been considered in the first place. I think I would quit this team if it caved in and hired dawson. NO WAY.

If they give the GM job to Gaines(assuming he still even wants it), does this team even bother having an introductory press conference? Does Ross put himself in the crosshairs of the media and fans by making a public appearance? How about Gaine, fully knowing he wasn't the first choice(or second, or third or fourth.....), does he even want to put a press conference on where he smiles and says how lucky he is to have the job?

Might be better to give him the job, make a written press release and just let him get to work.

Not sure how overpaying Gaine and giving him those instructions really helps us. God lets put this GM search out of its misery.
Screw it take Dawson

Good idea just a press release. Don't want to hear the whopper from Ross when he tries to spin this.

Worst case is every outside candidate declines the job, then Gaine declines and resigns his current position. Ross would probably appoint Aponte to GM and we would be screwed beyond what anyone could have believed. .

I doubt Gaine does that. Not sure he wants to be unemployed at this point of season. Another Gm job is just not appearing at this time of year

Gaine has pretty much been our GM since they fired Ireland, scouting at the Senior Bowl among other things. Time to put this search out of its misrary and give it to Brian.
