Prospective Reality Check

While it's certainly a bummer that we've missed the playoffs the last two years by the skin of our teeth, I think we all need to acknowledge we've been a rebuilding and losing team for 15 years. Those who want to can Philbin and still don't believe in Tannehill have to take a lesson from all the reboots we've gone through this millennium. Philbin is no Bellicheck but he's also no Cam Cameron. I applaud Ross for bringing him back. And if anyone seriously still doubts that Tannehill is not the best thing we've had since Danny retired you're just kidding yourself. Let us stop any notion of replacing him or bringing in someone for him to "compete with".

We're not an elite playoff team, that can be sure. But we're also no longer a losing team or worse, the laughing stock. When I look at the seasons of the Raiders, Jaguars, Jets, Bucs, & Titans I know I'm not the only who remembers how awful it is to feel the way their fans must be feeling right now. Am I right? It hasn't all been pretty, frankly it's been close to heartbreaking. But we've shown this season that we are able to run with the very best in the NFL (Packers, Broncos, Patriots, Chargers, Lions).

We are SO CLOSE to being SO GOOD!

I look forward to a progressive off season. Let's shore up that offensive line and create some depth. Let's give Lamar Miller someone to share runs with (Moreno?). Cut the dead weight on the defense without forgetting that until the last few weeks they were the heart and soul of this team (Wake, Grimes etc.)!

why dont you bring someone in to push tannehill...why do you just give him a free pass...he Takes BAD SACKS...he has to learn to throw it away...he threw the one int into the LBers hands...he is the best QB since danny but thats on a team where the 2nd best was JAY FIEDLER...thats not high praise...

If he cant beat out a 3rd round draft pick in preseason he needs to sit...not having competition is STUPID beyond belief...

oh we arent laughing stock....yeah we are better than the bad mediocre teams...wooo...

You miss the point of my thread, mate. Look back at the last 15 years. Each time we change the regime we start all over. I'm simply saying this is the best hand we have been dealt on this side of the millennium. We've been the laughing stock and we've been a losing team. Brass action on our part has always lead to coaches resigning or getting sacked and Cleo Lemon being out quarterback.

You can't blame fans for being impatient. It has been a long time since we have had a winner. However there is no magic bullet when it comes to ensuring success. Unlike most here, I don't think Ross is a stupid man....obviously, he thinks this is the best path forward for the team. Got to deal with it and move on to other issues...

We could use that 3rd pick a lot better. Like for a CB. Or a DT. Or a LB. Or a guard. Or a safety. Or a WR. Just don't use high picks for a QB when you know already that your starting QB is on the roster.

I am ok with allowing Philbin to prove he deserves to be an HC in his walk year next year. But I also feels he has to get us to the playoffs in 2015 or else....I thought Ross already made it clear that Philbin had to get us to the playoffs this year. I would like to see Coyle replaced...no excuse for giving up 30+ to Minny today. We should look to upgrade at every position...Tanny is our franchise QB but we can always move Moore and add depth there too.
