So much for the 80+ homers. This is really sad for the Cards. It would have been nice to see him play a full year and see what kind of numbers he would have put up.

damn that sucks...I'm a big Pujols fan. I wish him a speedy recovery

that sucks for him , i really thought that this year he could break the bonds record for hr´s

He goes out just when Roger is coming back. And Houston is always a 2nd half team.

That could turn into a race very soon

How did he get injured? Damn, I wanted to see the numbers he would have put up, with or without the HR record...

He was running after a foul ball and just stopped and grabbed his back. He might have hurt it on his at bat before that though.

I agree. Cincy's not far behing them, either; just 3 games.

St. Louis's lineup isn't anything special without Pujols. Rolen still swings a big stick, and Eckstein and Miles can still get on base, but Jim Edmonds isn't hitting well, and now there's going to be a LOT of pressure on him. The one silver lining is that Pujols's likely replacement at first, Scott Spezio, is hitting well. But still, they're going to struggle.

The Cards will be fine. They always seem to find a way to overcome these things, as they've dealt with injuries to one of their stars every single year.

The Cards will win the Central (again) and the people who are thinking this is going to become a race soon, haven't seen how the other teams involved are playing. They're going to actually have to start winning games to have a shot. The Astro's are way back, while everyone will cite the fact that they were so far under .500 last year and the year before, they forget that was just for the WC, they finished double digit games back.

The Reds I hope no one really considers for real, they just don't have the arms to stay in it, especially since they have to throw Harang and Arroyo until their arms about fall off each time they start.

While I agree with you, and think St. Louis will probably manage to hold on and win the division, it has to be noted that they haven't had a lineup so dependent on one slugger since Mark McGwire. And now, that one slugger is out. So "we'll be fine", all by itself, ain't gonna cut it.

damn i was rooting for Pujols to do something special, o well now it should make the NL Central race all that much better.

The Cards will be fine without Pujols for that length of time mainly because the National League, on the whole, is a complete joke.

i wish i wouldve bet the over under in home runs in vegas...it was like 60

i dont think he can get to that...i wouldve gone under...shouldve wouldve couldve

i wish i wouldve some alot of things a little different in vegas...now im paying for it!

Well, I gave you some reasons why they'd win it (The rest of the division sucks).

If you would like more, they are second in BA and OBP in the league. Their top two hitters in BA are not named Albert Pujols. Pujols helps in these categories a ton for sure, but the rest of their lineup is better than they're given credit for. Two spots are really holding them down (LF and C) and Molina had a 4 hit day the other day and two hits in another. He seems to be coming around. LF will probably be a black hole all year, unless they trade for someone.

They are number one in ERA, Albert doesn't pitch. Pitching will keep them in most games.

Juan E is a streaky hitter and seems to be showing signs of going on one, plus they will be more of a hit and run, steal a base team until Albert gets back.

Every year the Cards have an injury to a big star, and every year they overcome it. Even though it is to Albert Pujols, it's only four weeks, and in the end, it'll be the same thing this year.
