Actually, that's really not that much. At that rate you'd only be grossing a little over 31k per year.... granted, if they make the team, the payscale goes WAY up, so I suppose the risk of getting hurt is worth it....

Alex Marvez is quite possibly the worst team reporter for a paper ever. He gives just general answers and never puts himself out there and gives an idea of what they may actually be doing like Hank Goldberg does.
