Through these slow news days abound until training camp, I found an old Q & A section on Ohio State's website when they interviewed Ted Ginn Jr. I couple of the answers he gave I thought were pretty good and some other information I learned about him too; life and football.

Q: Everything looks like it comes so natural to you on the football field. Has it always felt that way?
A: No. When I was growing up, I was the slowest kid out there. I had a lot of things to work on, but as I got taught the game a lot of things started to come natural. When you keep doing things you're supposed to do, you put yourself in good situations.

I like this part of the Q&A

Q: What's your secret to being a good punt returner?
A:
It's no secret - it's the blocking up front by my teammates. If they didn't block, I would just catch the ball and get tackled. They know that if Teddy or Santonio is back there and they give us a chance, we might score, so you just look for the open hole and go.

I think during draft day actually when Ginn was interviewed he seemed modest about the whole thing about becoming an NFL player. To him it's just another experience and there is no ego to it. There should be more guys like Ginn and Beck in this league. At least we have those two on the Fins though.

Agreed again, and for good measure again again. Modest kid, fast legs.

Even though the interview was from 2005, you can sense the kids discipline and work ethic. So many people don't realize how important they are in success...guys like Zach that are small and not fast have those qualities and succeed; take someone like Ginn that is tremendously talented and throw in those attributes and you really have potential for something special....I think Cam and Randy saw that...lots of talented guys think that they can get by on talent alone and..well the Steve Taskers and Zach Thomas' of the world get the roster spots.

He really just seems like a genuinely good person.

Thats why he signed Joey Porter and drafted Paul Solai.
I know neither of these guys are Collins or phillips but they have some marks against them for char esp Joey. Solai was suspended for an undisclosed team violation so it may be minor.

What has JP done? Have you ever been in a fight? I do not see anything wrong with either of the guys you mentioned characters.
