San Diego Chargers quarterback Drew Brees and New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress were among the NFL Players of the Week announced Wednesday.
Brees was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after completing 19-of-24 passes for two touchdowns and a 137.5 passer rating as the Chargers handed the New England Patriots their first home loss since 2002 with a 41-17 triumph. It was the second such award for Brees, a fifth-year veteran, and the second week in a row that a Charger had earned it. Last week, running back LaDainian Tomlinson received the honor.
