What are your guys feelings on the QB by committee approach?;I don't care for it. The reason I dislike it is because how can a QB develop any sort of chemistry, flow, or rhythm if throughout the game he is getting the ball taken out of his hands. What if one guy is hot and you take him out for a play and a guy comes in for a play and throws an interception and kills the other QB's progress and momentum. I may be wrong but I can't recall this method ever winning a superbowl. I just can't see it working in big games where competition is stiff .IMO the QB position is a unique, emotional, leadership type position that isn't really right for a committee approach.I may be a traditionalist but I like the idea of having one passing specialist that can do what you need instead of Penny,White, Brown. More guys seem to increase the chance for error and create controversies.Thoughts?

just another reason I dont like the wildcat longterm. So I am going to take out my best qb and put the ball in a lesser qb;s hands. Oh well I will just ride out this euphoria and hope we will be a better team down the road regardless.

my fear of the qb by committee aproach is when you say you have 2 or 3 guys who can go. It useally means you dont have 1.

I don't tend to like QB by committee but I think there has to be a good reason for it. When the two QBs in question are such polar opposites, and the formations given to the minority guy are so big play oriented, I think it can be a good thing.

Wow don't you remember Earl Morral? 1972 the unbeaten team?

From Wikipedia:
After notching a win in the team's first playoff game against the Browns, Morrall struggled against the Steelers in the AFC Championship game, leading to the return of Griese.

LOL Nevertheless, I agree with your notion of sticking to one QB.

Unless I'm missing something what has a back up filling in for an injured starter have to do with QB by committee?

Pennington eventually passing the torch to Henne, reminds me of Bledsoe passing the torch to Romo. Parcells is heavily involved in both scenarios and Bill knows talent. Don' worry about QB by committee, Penny is the now, Henne is the future, White is the wildcat/slashback.

Parcells wouldn't have picked White if he didn't think they could make something work with him.

I like the way this is coming about.....i have no problem with our QB by committee. I like all three to be honest and i think our coaches find a nice way to use all three as time goes on.

I absolutely hate 50/50 splits of the QB job. But, what we saw in Miami in 2008 was more like a 90/10 split and it really didn't affect Pennington's rhythm or even his pass attempt counts. I doubt it would ever be more than like a 85/15 split any time in the future.

Just so you know Earl Morrall was more than just a back up he was a guy who probably could have started for many teams.

Here is just a little bit I pulled from a web site about his stats.

Morrall is probably best remembered as the greatest relief quarterback in football history. In 1968 Earl replaced an injured John Unitas and led Baltimore to a 15-2 record and Super Bowl III. That year he received the Jim Thorpe Trophy as the most valuable player in the league, as well as the league's passing championship and Comeback Player of the Year. In Super Bowl V, Morrall again relieved Unitas and directed the Baltimore Colts to a last second victory over Dallas.

Earl was an All-American at Michigan State in 1955 and No.1 draft choice of the 4gers. He played one season each with San Francisco and Pittsburgh before spending the next seven years in Detroit, passing for 2,621 and 24 TO's in 1963. With the Giants in 1965, Morrall threw for 2,446 yards and 22 TO's and the next season connected on a 98-yard scoring strike to Homer Jones, his longest as a pro.

On five different occasions with five different teams, Earl was named club MVP: Steelers, 1958, Lions, 1963; Giants, 1965; Colts, 1968 and Dolphins, 1972. He played in the Pro Bowl after the 1957 and 1968 seasons and retired in 1977. Earl is the only pro quarterback to win the Passing Championship for both the AFC and NFL. He is also the only player to win the league MVPaward in both the AFC and NFL. He is currently ranked fifth all time in average yards gained per passing attempt in the NFL and is the oldest quarterback to start a game and win.

Ah, but what that formation does for the 3-4 times a game it is run helps your "best" qb long term.

not so sure it does. If its sucessful possibly but teams will be salivating facing a rookie qb to a great degree. If he makes them pay then things will change but the odds of a rookie qb coming in and making the impact that some people want to believe are not good.

I think that it would be fine down near the goal line only though...
