In an appearance on ESPN’s “NFL Live”, Monday Night Football color commentator and Super Bowl winning Head Coach Jon Gruden spoke highly of the 27-year-old signal caller, as Gruden believes Tannehill is the most likely of any quarterback in the league to have a breakout season.

"I think he is ready to make the next step and I like what they've done with the system change and the offense that they're running with the up-tempo style,” said Gruden. "This kid is a dual threat, he can hurt you real bad running. I think he has an outstanding quick release, and he's got a very good supporting cast. They brought Greg Jennings, they've got some good lineman, and this system suits him well. I like Miami this year."

Tannehill is also catching the eyes of former stars at the quarterback position. In an interview with Greg Likens of The Finsiders, former Super Bowl winning quarterback Joe Theismann shared his thoughts on Tannehill’s steady rise since starting as a rookie back in 2012.

Theismann agrees with Gruden, believing Tannehill will be a special quarterback for the team for years to come, a prediction that the team and all Dolfans hope comes true.

"Ryan Tannehill I think going to be one of those special quarterbacks in the National Football League,” said Theismann. “He’s climbing that ladder very fast.”

Awesome to see these kind of comments. I think Ryan is going to have a great year.

Im Almost mad , Because a lot of us were Hearing the complete oposite from a lot of analyst last year ........

But Most of us here have known what we have since the beggining . A guy who keeps getting better and better every year .

I would not be surprised at all to see Tannehill throw 35 + tds this year .

Their arrival on Tannehill's emergence is a little late but so be it. He's been steadily improving every year and even though last year was his breakout year QB wise, he'll make too much noise this year for the media to ignore and they'll be forced to take notice.

If Tanny can make chicken salad out of chicken s**t when it counts he will rise to top ten IMO. He has all the tools and if he puts it together we'll be happy for a long time. I'm loving it but he has to carry the team at times and he has shown flashes.

The kid has serious upside. Gotta protect him. And get betting coaching and game day decisions from the top.

He looks more like A Rodgers than R Wilson or any of these scramble at the first sign of trouble and when the Oline provides some pocket he will be Top 5

Awesome! Bout damn time! I've always thought hebpassed the eyeball test for a top 5 qb since he started his first game. Can't say exactly what it is but I remember always watching other teams games, like on MNF and always thinking "that's what a good qb looks like!" Tanneholl has that. About damn time we get to watch a good qb EVERY Sunday and not just when we play the pats or broncos.

Honestly, Gruden has always praised Tannehill.

That is true. Going all the way back to Gruden's QB Camp with Tann-E-hill. I enjoyed watching that segment and did so multiple times.

Barring we keep him off of his back, this kid is going to be a special player for us..

I hope for a great year for him. He has to not take so many sacks and get rid of the ball, and make the deep throws in games that he has been doing in practice. Overall, he is average or a little better than. Like Gruden said, I hope this is his breakout year. He has the surrounding cast and an o-line that's getting there. No complaints on Albert, Pouncey and James. We need Mathis and strong play from player "x" who will be the other guard.

Tanny's gonna ball. I've been saying and I'm sticking to it. He put a lot of balls on the money last year that were dropped.

There are going to be a whole lot more people jumping on board midway through the season. We have ourselves a legit QB that is knocking on the door and I believe that the door will open this season. Don't be surprised when this kid puts up Beg Ben type numbers this year. Completely realistic.
