Contenders in 2010 ?

An interesting question then would be who's our QB.

Pennington ?

Henne ?

Pennington is in his prime and brings experience but has his own deficiencies.

Henne I think is seen by BP & co. and many of us, as our future but he has no experience.

At some point, I think that Henne will have to be in the picture ( this season ? ). We can't wait forever to see if he truly is a capable QB.

If he is capable, he will need time to develop, if not we will need to know in order to go back and reevaluate that critical position.

QB play will be an important factor as to when we truly become a legitimate contender. Be interesting to see how the staff plays this one out.

I'd think that by mid season Henne if really our future QB will need to start getting some playing time....

Or is Pennington simply put, the promised One. :err:

I think Pennington should be our starter in 09-10. He showed he can get to the playoffs with our roster last year, i believe with a full year of training camp under his belt, more chemistry with our WR's and hopefully some new weapons on offense and defense will do the trick. GO CHADS (Pennington, and Henne lol)

Best QB that gives us the most upside to the season. Give them equal opportunity in preseason and let the best man win, oh ya and J.Beck can still carry the clip board he did a fine job at it last year.

better hope CP is our QB until Beck steps up or we get a new QB, because Henne is not our future, HE SUCKED at college

:lol2:

Anyways, Pennington will start this year. Based on what he did last season, he should be afforded that opportunity.

if it was up to me i would have pennington start and if in the 3rd quarter we are wining by a decent amount of points put henne in and see what hes got but thats just me

That is a stupid statement. Henne wasn't that bad in college. Last time I checked, Tom Brady didn't dominate in college either and look at him now. There is a reason he was drafted in the 6th round. Henne has the arm and intangibles to be a good NFL QB. To suggest that Beck should be the guy over Henne tells me you have no clue.

beck had the chance to win the job and he is now a third stringer. couldnt agree more with this statement

The job is Penningtons to lose. There will always be open competition in camp but all things being equal we will see Penny behind center. Henne or Beck will get their opprotunity when they have earned or possibly if penny goes down one of them goes in earlier then planned. Presumably Henne of course.

Penny will get it. Will he keep it, through preformance and injury is the big question

Actually I'm wondering why this is even a question... Sparano and the FO have stated unequivocably that Pennington is their guy... There is no QB controversy, it is Penny's job to lose. Rightly so.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to the poster or anyone but I am passionate about the subject matter.

I watch the Pennington hate on the forums and I always tell myself I will not dignify it with replies but I cannot help myself... I know that this thread does not in any way qualify as hate but sometimes the disrespect paid to the man who started every game for us in this remarkable turnaround is truly mind boggling.

There is some weird kind of consensus based on conjecture that Pennington cannot get better... it is widely believed that the team CAN get better around him but he has somehow in a weird alternate reality plateaued and will hold the team back. Based on the talent he had working around him, how can another year together and an improving OL not help the man? or an entire pre season working with the coaches in the system?

Next it is Pennington's history most often quoted as his potential downfall and yet they are NOT willing to note the man's history as LEADER OF THEIR FAVORITE TEAM... THE DOLPHINS. He was healthy all year... He PROVED that the 'supposed weak arm' did not in any way limit the teams chances... He was an exemplary leader on the field and off... He plays smart and he WINS GAMES. How did people miss it?

How in the world can anyone come to the conclusion that Pennington was not one of the biggest reasons for the turnaround? The coaches admit it, as do the players... when will he get the respect he deserves and when will people admit we won games because of him and not 'in spite' of him... this in his own fan base..?

The fact is the 'nay sayers' have time on their side in that they will eventually prove to be correct... Everyone's skills erode over time and no one can play at the highest level forever... Eventually they will be able to say 'I told you so'... But the fact remains the QB's who last the longest are the ones who play with their heads and their hearts long after the arm gives out... Chad led our team to the greatest turnaround in NFL history, with little depth, a young OL, young inexperienced receiving corps and IN THE FIRST YEAR OF A GROUND UP REBUILD. Deal with it.

If BP thought Henne was such a great player why wouldn't he picked him at 32? Wake up... Henne is not as good as you few Henne lovers on here. How many games did he win against Ohio State? How many Division 1 teams did Henne lose to (Should never happened)? He had a great supporting cast and still proved he wasn't a winner. Maybe a Whinner.. not a winner!!!

If Phillip Merling wasn't there they would have selected him.

I can't see there being any kind of open QB competition this training camp after the year Chad Pennington had last year. Putting up the efficient numbers he did along with winning 11 games merits a guaranteed starting spot the next season i'd say. Although i do expect Chad Henne to be the starter in 2010-2011. Pennington's contract expires and unless he has another really excellent year, which he could, i don't think he'll be back. Even if he is back this FO has invested so much in Chad Henne i think he's going to get the look.
