OK now we have very little chances to get Harrington because Detroit is saying that their not going to trade him for a sixth or seven round pick, and other teams that do have draft picks to trade are starting to show interest in him. Collins wants to start and the only team where he has a chance to start is the Ravens and it looks like the Ravens are going after Mcnair if Tenessee releases him, so Collins is probably going to end up retiring. Now wat are we gonna do if we dont get Harrington or Collins ? Wat do u guys think about all this ? Who should we sign Maddox, Flutie or Martin? :dolphins:

If we can't get Harrington or Collins, I bet we sign Martin. Maddox I think is the last resort, and we will go after Flutie only if all free agent QBs retire and all college QBs skip the draft.

Isn't anyone else on this board concerned with why Harrington would want to come to Miami when he could go somewhere else and get a chance to be the #1 guy which clearly won't happen in Miami? At some point you have to question this guys heart if he comes here as far as I'm concerned.

Has anyone else confirmed this besides the Lions? I mean, they do have a vested interest in other teams being interested. They didn't mention the other teams and I haven't seen anywhere that any specific teams were admitting to having interest. Anyone else believe that this might be Detroits attempt to drive up the price by talking about "other teams" getting involved? Think they might be taking lessons from Slimebag Scott Boras?

No way...where is he going to go and get a chance to be a #1 QB this year??? Heck his own team brought in other team's backups to take his job. He's trying to sign with a team that will allow him to see the field, so that he can show his skills and possibly salvage his career so that he may be able to get a starting job in 07 or 08.

KC and Denver are also interested.

if we sign a scrub like Martin or Maddox, I would bet that Lemon would beat them out

Good point. I had heard that they were interested before, but not that they have renewed their interest. I'm still not convinced that there are some new players involved. Maybe I'm just too skeptical.

I'd be happy to take that bet.

How much $$ you willing to lose?

Please don't even mention Flutie - we don't need a drop-kicker. Seems Martin is next on Saban's wish list if Detroit doesn't come off their demands.

In Saban We Trust!

As much trouble as were having signing a back-up quaterback, we probably should traded for a qb that was healthy and saved ourselves the headache.

Huh? He isn't gonna get a starting job anywhere unless someone goes down. He's being smart by targeting Cincy and us. Atleast he's got an opportunity to start a few games if they can't go at the beginning of the season.

You DO realize we woulda needed to look for a backup even in your scenario right? We got rid of Sage, gone cya later. If we grabbed a starting caliber QB Gus woulda left as well, just like he did. So your statement makes 0 sense.

Trade for a healthy QB?!??! Who would you propose that we took? The two best people available were injured. We are not having problems signing a backup, people want to come here. Saban is waiting for the guy he wants. We could have Maddox already, Harrington wants to come here. The thing with Harrington is that he has to first accept a contract with a team before they can trade him. No team will trade for a player who then they can't agree on a contract with. SOO...Harrington has a ton of control in the situation and everybody knows it. It's one of those moves that you don't talk about, but everyone knows is there. They don't want him and they don't want to pay him his $$. If Harrington doesn't accept any other contract except Miami's, the Lions will be forced to accept Miami's trade or cut him. Then we pick him up without losing Dpicks. Harrington and Miami (cause he wants to come here) have more power than the Lions in this deal.

You guys think no action is always bad...be a little patient. There was all this worry about DC or Brees and whether we will get either of them. We essentially got both of them and made or pick...DC.
