I was taking a look at the espn site: they're listing the top prospect for next draft

SR Quarterbacks

1. Colt McCoy, Texas
2. Tony Pike, Cincinnati
3. Tim Tebow, Florida
4. Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan
5. Jarrett Brown, West Virginia

JR Quarterbacks

1. Sam Bradford, Oklahoma
2. Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame
3. Jevan Snead, Mississippi
4. Jake Locker, Washington
5. Case Keenum, Houston


Since I cant follow college football, can you tell me how do you rate this prospects?

For example, Mel Kiper says: Analysis: How accurate is McCoy? Well, his accuracy is down more than 5 percentage points this season, but he's completing 71 percent of his passes. Pike's no slouch, either. He's at 70.5 percent and, at 6-foot-6, sees the whole field.

For the folks that aren't sold on Henne being the future, or for anyone for that matter IMO the two best QB's that will more than likely be in the draft will play this Saturday at 3:30pm in South Bend.

I know Bradford, McCoy, Snead and Tebow get most of the headlines, but Clausen and Locker I think are the best of the bunch. They are both Jr's, but both may very well come out since it's only assured that next year there will not be a rookie salary cap, but that is a big part of the CBA that (if agreed on) would take over for 2011.

Clausen has gotten better each year which is what you expect from a college QB and completes around 65% of his passes and has thrown 10 TD's to 1 Int so far this year with a QB rating of 175. He has a strong arm, above average mobility and as he showed last week is a good leader.

Locker has been kind of a dual threat type of QB, but under Sarkisian this year he is taking snaps under center and completing close to 60% of his passes. His stats may not look as impressive as some others, but watch this guy play and he just seems to have "it."

Either way, if you think Henne is the future or not I highly recommend watching this game Saturday if you want to see two of the premier college QB's battle it out.

At this moment I am happy of Henne, and I cant wait to see him commanding our offense.

But QB prospects are always fun to follow... unfortunately this year I find it difficult to follow College Football so I have not a single match.

I will follow your suggestion and try to find a way to see the match between Washington and Notre Dame

Pike I am not sold on. He seems very inconsistent. He has good mobility for such a big guy, but his numbers are a bit inflated because there are games the throws it 40+ times. I don't think Cincy runs a lot from under center, but Flacco didn't either. I am not sure how high Pike would grade out at this point, but he's having a good year so far with a 70% completion and 11 TS's to 2 Ints, with a rating of 175.

He'd be a guy to keep an eye on this year and see if he can become more consistent than he has been.

As I said he's having a good year this year. Last year he only threw 19 TD's and 11 picks with a 61% completion percentage. He reminds me of Graham Harrell with a stronger arm, plays in a very similar offensive system, and where is Graham today?

not taking anything away from him, and doesn't mean my opinion is how he is going to turn out, just said I am not sold on him yet. All QB's that don't play in a pro style system scare me a bit.

I think if coaches bring the young QBs on with good play calling then it helps them. I look at what Cameron and Malarkey did with Flacco and Ryan last year, and wonder why they couldn't do that in Miami. Obviously part of that is talent and Beck is no Flacco, but they put both QBs in favorable situations. The first part of the season they only had them work with half the field, then expanded that as the game slowed down for them.

I used to be one of those guys that thought it was good to have a young QB sit and learn, I have completely changed my mind, but will add that some pieces must be put in place so you just aren't throwing a young QB out to the wolves.

He has good size , is athletic and all the tools but he did have a pretty rough game versus Auburn.

The only reason anyone could say that Jimmy Clausen is overrated would be because he's the quarterback for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.....

He's going to be a better pro signal caller than muscle head Brady Quinn ever could....

Nobody even liked Jimmy Clausen as an NFL quarterback before this season began.....other than myself...

I'll take him over Colt McCoy, Jevan Snead, Tony Pike, Tim Tebow, and just about every other quarterback mentioned in this thread....

However, I really like Jake Locker as well....and he'll flourish under Sarkisian and develope into a legitimate top NFL quarterback prospect....similar to how Carson Palmer did under Norm Chow's tutelage...

The senior quarterback that wasn't even mentioned by the talking heads is Tim Hiller.....I like this guy over any senior QB in this class....

I hope Clausen stays for his senior season in order to give Miami a full season to evaluate Henne...
