All righty then....

Here's the question posed. If Gus has a similar performance as last week, and AJ does well, does the QB competition come down to a possible start next week for AJ?

That being the last pre season game...if AJ were to start he would most likely be playing against mostly backups. Can Saban really make a decision based on that? Is it fair to Gus?

Or...is the job Gus's barring any armagedean plunge?

Its getting close to the wire so....gimme your thoughts!!!!

Duly noted...

But I would be interested to hear a further explanation..other than the typical Gus us great..AJ sucks.

The stats dont reflect that Gus is much better..and after this week...the stats may infact support AJ. If thats the case...does your mind change?

while I'm of the opinion that AJ should start the season opener....it just seems to me that Saban has already made up his mind to start Gus for the season opener...even though he's not "literally" saying that it's Gus.

Personally, I hope AJ plays great and makes Saban rethink things. However, I feel that nearly all the starters on offense, and most on the defense, are going to play into about the middle of the 3rd quarter. Keeping that in mind, AJ will get between a quarter and a quarter and a half to do something with the backups. I don't see how him doing anything special will make a difference unless Gus flat out stinks it up during his 2 1/2 quarters of play.

Basically I think it's come down to Gus losing the starting job now instead of AJ winning it.

hopefully that helps to answer your question. :)

IMO,

It will be Gus, Why? One less position for Saban to worry about while the rest of the offense tries to execute this vertical stretch offense. Kinda like Warner-Manning in NY. As soon a Saban is cormforable with Feeley as the QB, then we'll see a change. In the meantime, I'll take any win the Phins get.

I think if Gus can come out and completes maybe 45% of hia passes and only turns the ball over 3 times he should hold down the starting spot.

Yeah that would inspire confidence that he is teh guy,LOL! Actually if he completes 45% and 3 turnovers in teh 4th preeason games we should see some cut Gus threads.

Hey all, first post here!

I've been a long time AJ supporter, but the way the pre-season has been going has planted the seeds of doubt in my head. I think if Gus continues to do not as bad as AJ (I think saying 'out-plays' is not appropriate at this time) then he we be the starter for the beginning of the season. I think that's not a good thing. All of us know what Gus can and cannot do, he's an adequate veteran backup. AJ on the other hand is still a bit of an unknown factor. I know he hasn't shown much this pre-season, but neither has Gus. He may develop over the season into a serviceable QB, we all know Gus probably won't. I think naming AJ as the starter for the season and giving him the opportunity to show us all what he's got is the best thing for the team. If he stinks up Dolphin Stadium, then we know it's time to move on. Who knows? Maybe he'll step it up and be decent.

Again not a huge fan of either...yet...Gus is our best chance of "ball control" football. He may not be the best in the league, just the best the we have.

Welcome to Finheaven! I agree with your post also.

I think Gus was the starter from the day that he got in Miami, not sure that his playing better or his better then Feeley, what I'am sure about it is that Linehan likes him. Feeley is in the same situation that he was last year with Wanny. Personally I believe that AJ got more potentials and his better then Gus, but again was never put in the position to be the starter from the beginning.

Said it before and continue to say it, its crazy as evenly matched as they are NOT to start Feeley and let him play and see if he can come through this year or not.And if not, you find another QB somewhere, because Gus is'nt the long term answer either.Any way you look at it, Feeley deserves the chance to see if he can get it together this year.

Saban talks about how the offensive line doesnt and havent protected the QB this year and its hard to judge them because of it, well, it (the offensive line) was even worse last year, and the QB's were really getting slaughtered then. Some of you can say he's a Feeley fan if you like, I could care less.I'm a Dolphin fan who knows football and have followed the Dolphins every year since 1970, and I know, and have said since last year what Nick said, the QB nor the RB's are going to do anything if the offensive line doesnt do their job, and that as Paul Harvey would say, "Is the rest of the story !"

Nice post!

I would have to say Feeley. Why? I would rather have a qb that has room to improve. Gus on the other hand, he is over the hill and past his prime, a has been, correction, a never was. I mean, doesnt Saban put into account that the team that drafted him kept him for 4 years. After that, no team kept him for more than two. And I could see an int. returned but a fumble returned for 70 yards? COME ON!!!! a normal fumble isnt returned for more than five yards. and why did we bring him in? oh yeah, he knew the system! exept, its a shame that NOONE ELSE on the team knows it anymore than Feeley does.

I think Feeley is getting the short end of the stick here. He should get a start, especially this week just to know if Saban can trust him. Either way with all the fumbles and drop passes, last week was hard to evaluate Gus. If Gus does continue to start, then I think it is the writing on the wall for AJ. Saban is going to find his qb somewhere else.
