Ok this is to everyone who says in every Qb post or thread ....Qb of the future. Im not simple minded but i really want to understand thoroughly your perspective. Here is what i believe and i will strongly use it as my defence. Everyone here can agree with me that Manning has dominated alot of the NFL for the last couple of years.Im as big a dolphin fan as anyone so please bare with me. Now he has had some great wide outs Harrison Etc.. he has more than one or even two to three different options to throw to. running the ball he has a great Running back. Now what im trying to get to is everyone keeps saying lets draft a QB of the future, Like Manning is to the Colts. Last time i checked He hasnt won any SUPERBOWL rings, excluding the fact they have had a great year and might make it this year is ONE exception. but this allstar QB hasnt taken them priar to maybe this year. Now can everyone say realisticly that this Qb of the future will be the savior of the dolphins to lead the to the SB. Honestly will you say that. We are building pretty much a solid team, Now fill the wholes we need filled ....Practice so that we dont Drop alot of passes ....Give up Touchdowns due to a poor secondary work and maybe ...MAYBE the dolphins would be playing next week or even have an extra week to practice while other teams play. I believe with those differences this years team could have made it deep into the playoffs. Its basicly having to finely tweak the team everyone has to correct their number one problem. All those thread on the games that one mistake cost us the game are right. That one mistake wouldnt have been made and we could easily be 12-4 but then again should of could of would of and we didnt. lets think this out for one minute hypotheticly, All 55 players are the same in the 2006 season we have 2/3 less penalties and and those really big errors not the small one the really big one's half gone and we are division champs.I think IMHO if we do upgrade the QB position this year make it an outstanding upgrade worth our time and money. Not an upgrade like Mcnair who i saw his last game had poor accuracy, when he looked tired he threw to a WR that wasnt even their. In coclusion please dont shoot me down for my post think about it realisticly and give me your honnest oppinion. and remember i never bashed drafting a qb or picking one up in th FA but just wanted to show you guys another point of view.Win now over winning 1-2 superbowls five years from now. Win now and do it again in soon recent years

Yea but Peyton benefitted Harrison just as much as Marvin benefitted him. Marvin never had one 1000 yard season before Peyton joined the team, and he had played 3 seasons. Then, in Peyton's second season, he goes from a pretty good season in the NFL (a season in which he missed 4 games and had 776 yards) to 1663 yards the next year.

Also Peyton Manning really only had one target in the early days and still was a solid player.

When I started reading I was going to post a reply but I have forgotten what I wanted to say now.

i read and understand your post but i dont think you trully understand the point i was trying to get across

Well had you separated it into paragraphs it wouldn't have looked like one big run-on sentence :)

(just playin)

I get what your saying...

Yeah I hope Miami doesn't go QB in the first round. I want some stud thats going to play rite away and help our team immediately, really make am impact. I'd like them to go OT, DT or CB.

we would probably look at a cb since sam madison wont be a phin next year.

Robfins2005 thats for you buddy

Personally, I'm tired of seeing second hand Qbs brought here that are nothing more than a stop gap solution. You pretty much say your against a "QB of the future" yet you don't offer an alternative solution besides practicing more and cutting down on penalties? Come on now. Fact is we need an upgrade at the QB position. whether it be through FA or the draft we need better, more CONSISTENT play from a QB. The only way we should go through FA is if we can land a promising young guy like a Brees or maybe Carr. Personally, I think the draft is the way to go so Saban can mold his QB to his liking from the get go. Look at any of the teams in the playoff hunt and they have a solid young playmaker at QB.

Speed rush if you read my post ACCURATELY i never said i was against a QB of the future i just said in Short terms that reguardless of AGE young...Old...Rookie or Vet if its an upgrade get him. my issue was with people who solidly only want a draft, a young college Qb. i would think that someone with 2000 plus post you would analyze the situation better before speaking your mind.

 Thanks I can read, I know what you said, and I know how many posts I have thanks. You said you want an upgrade regardless of age? So if that meant bringing in a vet QB that could only give us 1 or 2 solid years you'd be for that? You mentioned who would rather win 1 SB next year or 1-2 in a few years or 1 now and more soon. You can't have both, you can't just plug in some random guy at the most important position. Its called building a foundation and playing consistently, which is what Saban is doing. You want a solid starter that can come in and be a solid starter for 5+ years. Look around the league, the best teams have solid starters that are the foundation of their team. You can't build a SB winning team overnight.

You know what Rush we have to think realisticly the next Dan Marino isnt going to come from this draft if you want to have a solid draft pick wait till 2007 and the list will be much larger. Till then we have to deal with immidiate upgrades that would give us 1-3 years of solid play being Mcnair, dante Etc...who ever it is .if Gus had a 83 Qb rating his last 6 games wouldnt you hate to think we are just gonna throw him away what if he brings that 83 and increases it at the end like this season it will be in perfect time for playoffs. because we already know we are their for sure, alone with the secondary upgrades and o-line. 6 games is alittle more than 1/3 the season do the math at his rate of success he will be a good QB next season

Lets win one with Zach and Jason huh?! They dont have that many years left, and we have a team that can win now and the future. Every one jump on the Gus Bus and let him take us! We need a couple d backs and the surprise pick for us will be Kellen Clemens from Oregon. Thats our future. And get Joey Harrington. Sure he looks bad, but hes played on bad teams. No Running game. No offensive supprts besides a wide reciever. Put him in Miami with Rick and Ron and Gus and McMichaels and Chambers and he will be very good! :dolphins:

Wazz Man Im with you on that Gus Bus i want to see us have home field in the superbowl....Great post and great points about zack and taylor...Do it while we have them because then our defence isnt going to be what it is with them on it.:dolphins:

 So which is it? You wanna keep Gus or upgrade? Your talking in circles. What makes you think the QB crop will be larger next year? If you would have read MY post you would have seen that one of my main points was CONSISTENCY, which is what your talking about. I'm all for winning a SB asap, but we have to think "realistically".
