We've got a true proven winner, Daunte Culpepper, the fact is:

Can he come back from his (big) injury?

We could:

*Keep the way we are...

*Hope that JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn fall to the 9th overall and trade Harrington...

*Sign Omar Jacobs (Free Agent) and waive Cleo or Harrington

*Offer Gus Frerrotte a new deal and try to establish previous relationship (now that Saban is gone and he ruled Saban a bad person after what he did with him) and waive Cleo or Harrington - Frerrotte has proven that he has chemistry with Chambers to put up big numbers...

I'm personally going with the 2nd or 4th options (very unlikely), but would be good improvements.

I think that if Brohm declares we should draft him but if not we should stay with Daunte because the perssonel on the team needs to show daunte that they have confidence on him. Even if Russell falls i think we should wait and give DC another opportunity and next years draft will have probably better options on the qb position.

My ideal situation is we draft Brohm, cut Daunte and let Cleo and Harrington battle it out for the starting position until Brohm is ready to take the reigns. If Brohm is unavailable I would wait until the 4th and draft Kevin Kolb out of Houston with him staying 3rd string for a couple of years as he learns the pro game. If that were the case I would keep Daunte and Harrington and cut Cleo.

All of this is under the assumption that we get someone who's a good offensive mind. I think Harrington under a modern, intelligent offense would do very well. If however we were to get another defensive minded coach who flubs the offensive coordinator position again then Cleo (arm and legs) and Daunte (his arm) are probably the better bets due to their physical attributes which will be more needed in a bad system.

I think we have to draft a QB...not sure exactly when...depends on who comes out and who is on the board when we pick.

Why Omar Jacobs? We're better off with Cleo and Harington.

1. The way we are has it's questionmarks, but it's palatable. But it relies on Daunte getting healthy for the 1st time in 3 years and cutting down on sacks/turnovers or Harrington trying to continue improving. And I wouldn't consider Daunte a proven winner since he's got only 2 winning seasons.

2. I certainly hope we can draft an elite QB. If anything, I think it'd be Brady Quinn who might drop to 9th ala Matt Leinart. And I think the Cards have wrapped up their franchise QB so it's about time we do the same. But we'd have to keep Culpepper and a healthy veteran like Harrington for insurance.

3. Omar Jacobs?!? We already have a QB who shares a similar career path in the NFL with Jacobs. His name is Cleo Lemon.

4. Resigning Gus Frerotte is a last-ditch option.

Can you actually support this statement? I don't think you can.

The QB situation definitely needs to be addressed in this off season. Outside of JaMarcus Russell I can't see spending our #1 on a QB. Although, I have seen enough people's opinion on this website I respect to reserve my judgment on Brohm until the combine.

I am all for spending our 1st round pick on our top need which is WR. Assuming Calvin Johnson will be gone, I think Dwayne Jarrett would be the ideal pick if he is available for the 9th pick. He meets the criteria for both value and need.

I do think it would be wise to use our 2nd or 3rd to get a QB if we do in fact go for another position with our 1st. I could see taking a chance on Brennan or Smith in the 2nd if available or possibly the best available in the 3rd.

You're exactly right Reno. CP is 40-44 over his career, with only 1 winning season to his name. It's time to draft another QB.

I think Cleo is better then Omar. That's why Cleo has a job and Omar doesn't.
