Can anyone tell me why we never attempt this. We don't have to do it all the time but you think we can not be so vanilla.

I dont get it either. We have a pro bowl center and never try this when we need to pick up a yard or even a few inches. Doesn't make sense to me

Everyone would know we are doing it. We are never under center. Ever! Would be nice to have the formation in our playbook.

I was thinking this same thing as we lined up on 4th and 1 with Damian freaking Williams in the backfield. WAKE the F up coaches!

They need to run a few plays under center to keep the defense honest. Especially early in the game.
I formation with Phillips as lead blocker..:chuckle:

Teams that run a power based running attack seem to run a lot more quarterback sneaks than zone blocking teams. When your line is geared on speed and technique, asking them to just over power defenders in a short yardage situation isn't as effective as it would be with five bulldozers.

was thinking exact thing yesterday in 3rd and 4th and short. so critical to keep the ball esp after all the plays the defense had. wasn't Mitchell fullback?

I have a sneaky suspicion that Miami kept it vanilla on purpose. You always want to win a game and put your best foot forward but in the context of our opening season schedule, ie, buffalo and nyj around the corner, I wouldn't put it past them to have reserved some of our more dynamic formations and pass players for those matchups.

At least that's what I keep telling myself, you don't want to blow your load on the Skins/Jags.

I suspect that next week will be more of the same with the possibility of introducing Parker into some red zone action in the hopes that he can find his niche for the first half of the season.

It's not just Parker that's new though, Stills, Jennings, Cameron played their first games are Fins, and even the elder statesman of the bunch, Rishard Mathews has been a mostly mop up duty guy.

Parker and Stills got virtually no training camp work in with Tannehill. if we don't see progress coming out of the bye I will be worried but winning ugly until then is fine bye me.
