QB's and the Super Bowl.....

Man Im sick of this Marino Bashing because he didnt "Lead the Team to the Super Bowl and win.!" Did Trent Dilfer Lead Baltimore to a Super Bowl? No it was the Defense. But Dilfer Has a Ring so dose that make him better than Marino? How about Brad Johnson with Tampa He has a ring dose that make him better than Marino? Hell no. They were comparing Dans stats to Steve Youngs stats on the NFL network. Youngs stats a HALF, not even HALF of what marino did. How is he even considered for the hall? The last I checked football is a TEAM sport not just the quarterback. Look at Jim Kelly. He got 4 AFC titles in a row and made it to the superbowl 4 times dose that mean he sucks? Man I hate freakin looser anaylists! Dans record and arm speak for itslef. Even today when a qarterback is coming out of college who is the first qb they all mention when they talk about the kids arm...... "Well he's no Marino!" Damn SKippy he aint. Nobody is.

If Young's 49'er team doesn't win a SB, then Young would not be considered for the HOF. Same for Tom Brady. Last year some in the media were already saying that Brady would likely make the HOF.

Exactly. These guys who are mediocre at best actually steal the glory and fame from some other poor schmo on the team for making him look good.

Elway went just as long as Dan with no ring until his final 2 years. He was fortunate that he ended up with enough team around him to help get there. (Not to take anything away from his contributions). Had that not happened, he too would have always had that stigma of no rings, and as he has less stats than Dan, might have had a little longer wait to get in the HOF. But the fact is, championships count for something, especially with the career to back them up. Dilfer and Johnson are one hit wonders without the careers to back them up.
