mcnair, brooks, collins, volek, carr and im sure there will be others..

If a qb falls to us in the draft then fine. there is no need to trade up...

remember this is not a passing team... this team should be a running team with some sort of ability to pass the ball. all of the aforementioned guys can do that. we will never see the likes of dan again. please stop thinking that we will. the dream of drafting an all world qb with him being the cornerstone of our franchise for 15 years is just that,, a dream.

Lets focus on a lt/cb-s/lb

you do not need a pro bowl qb to get to the super bowl..

personally i think we sign clements away from buffalo. i also think there may be an opportunity to deal ricky for a probowl corner i e the portis bailey deal of a couple of yrs ago..

If the Dolphins went after Steve McNair, Aaron Brooks or Kerry Collins as a starter, I would shoot myself.

First, no one is willing to take that sort of chance on Ricky right now, he is one year away from quitting, smoking a ton of pot, and living in a tent. Give it some of time. I'm perfectly happy with him in Miami, he seems motivated enough. I doubt he would be if we deported him to Philadelphia or something.

Second, there may never be another Dan Marino. He was a rare talent. But why should that stop us from searching? The solution is always to try harder, not to give up!

A quick glance at the past 30 superbowl teams should demonstrate that good teams are most strongly associated with good QBs. That doesn't mean that every good QB is necessarily a first rounder, it doesn't nor does it mean that every good QB wins a superbowl, and it doesn't mean that every single superbowl team has had a HOF QB. But it's a general pattern with few exceptions. If this is a regularity in the NFL, we would be wise to follow it.

mcnair, brooks, or collins are all better than gus.. i would consider any of these guys an upgrade.

No, Aaron Brooks is not. And Collins isn't either. He had a good o-line and Randy Moss and Jerry Porter. And he still sucked.

Some fans on here need to look past their noses and think about the future. We don't need any re-tread QBs!!!

Mcnair may be if he could stay healthy. The other two are not upgrades.

Carr??? Who says he will be out there?? Last I heard the Texans were going to give him his 8 million.

all I can say is so what?? I mean really, how much of an upgrade, is it a truly significant amount? will it give us a decent shot at several superbowls??

I don't think so. the really great quarterbacks (you know, the ones that make football dynasties), don't even sniff free agency until they're over the hill

make sure their are 2 bullets in that gun so I can do the same.

personally, I feel Buffalo puts the tag on Clements. That's just fine with me. Save our money. With the new 5 yrd rule and the insane pass interference calls, the nature of the cornerback business has changed dramatically.

I see the future as dependent on disguised zone coverages and the ability of the d-line to get a push to disrupt a QB's timing. The days of a true shut down corner may be over. It seems that anyone can get thrown on these days

this team is not and will not be super bowl ready for some time. lets focus on the cake before we worry about the frosting. we need to build a solid team,- then when the time is right plug in a qb of the future.. anyone of the guys i mentioned are good stopgap players...

since 'Qbs of the future' tend to be rookies, and rookies tend to need time to develop, it makes sense to get one because, quote,
"..team is not and will not be super bowl ready for some time". So go and get your rookie up to speed during the rebuilding period.

We could wait till the "right" time. But what would that time look like exactly? Seems to me like we just passed it 2-3 years ago.

we need a consistent qb. not a pro bowler. just a guy who could complete passes just to open the run

4th quarter, down by fourteen, 5 minutes left. Great teams are defined by these situations.

Seriously, do you want a guy who can just complete passes in the flat, have a passer rating around 80 (umm, Fiedler??). Or do you want a guy who can take the team by the horns, and lead the team back by example?

It's funny how we forget so quickly.

these past couple of years have been hell.. yes, i agree with you, that we past that point a couple of years ago.. i will be content with multiple 10-6 seasons and various trips to the playoffs.. who knows, once you get to the playoffs anything can happen. those 10-6 seasons are long off if we sacrifice the rest of the team to try and draft a cornerstone qb.. my point is, it can be done without...
