I am amazed at the way most here deal with the Fin QB situation over the past few years.

Brian Griese had some talent. He was slammed for the most part here & forced out & played pretty well in Tampa. Better than anyone we had over the past 6 years.

People here wanted stinking Sage Rosenfels!

AJ showed some flashes & we gave up alot to get him. I admit he had some problems, but looked pretty good in the Eagles offense in pre-season when he came backbut he was was traded for CLEO LEMON!

Now JH has a 500 record on a below 500 team, is healthy, has a nice arm & starting experience & looks like under the right system he could do well. Then in 2 rain storms & atrocious play calling he looks bad we now want CLEO to be our savior.

Well enjoy the result on Sunday & having DC & CLEO as your starters next year.

More or less agree... not sure about Brain, AJ, etc... being all that, but man do we jump ship quickly. Most team's fans have a love affair with their backup for some reason we go after our backup's backup.

I'm excited to see how well cleo will do this week.....and no i'm not looking to him to be our savior......but he showed last week he has some unexplored talent.......think tom brady people.

anything is possible right....? lol

im still wit joey, all the way, he had a cuple of bad games, so did ronnie this year, nd chambers nd mcmicheal, nd thomas, nd taylor, nd the rest of r team, we didnt bench ne of them 4 the next best thing

Hmm... well, Nick Saban knows more than I do about football and he's the one benching Joey, so, I think that maybe Joey deserves to be benched.

So, your'e hoping Cleo plays well and offers us hope?

Wait, that would what a FAN would say. Sounds to me like your'e just another Joey homer looking for an excuse.

Wait, you think we gave up too soon on AJ Feeley?!

The problem with this team isn't giving up too early, it's sticking with mediocrity too long without drafting talent.

How many years did they stick with Fiedler? How many years did they waste not addressing the qb situation?

I mean, at least Saban made an effort... a healthy Daunte is better than anything we've seen here in many years.

Until Daunte, of all the qbs that have come through here since Dan, Brian Griese was probably the one that deserved more of a shot, but he wasn't going to save the team.

And, my god, Harrington is not the answer to any question worth asking. And it has nothing to do with two games. It is stunning how much slack this guy gets. He has been worse THIS YEAR than Culpepper, let alone when Daunte is healthy.

Harrington has been lousy. He is one of the three worst rated quarterbacks in football. And he has been lousy for years, but people keep making excuses for him.

And I don't buy the "he won games" argument... HE didn't win games. Jason Taylor won games. It's not like Harrington came in and found ways to win... in fact, he tried to give games away.

I don't view Lemon as a savior, I view him as a question mark.

But Joey isn't even a question mark. He's just bad. As a starter, anyway.

The thing I find hardest to understand here is how much slack people are willing to give a third-rate quarterback like Joey, and how little slack they'll give an injured star like Daunte.

And to read a post like yours, praising AJ Feeley and Harrington, and slamming Lemon and Culpepper... we'll that's pretty dang wacky, that's all I'll say.

Griese was alright but once again you needed a much better offensive line than we had for the guy to be able to play well. Wade smith (I think)almost singlehandedly ended his career. Rather than fix our oline we decided to go with a QB with mobility, much like this year. Culpepper would probably be fine if we had 3 pro bowl linemen in fron of him but since we have a matador line we needed Harrington with his quick release or now Cleo with his mobility

As for Feeley, he was basically a west coast QB being brought in to run a non west coast offense. Zero talent around him and zero patience to give him a chance to learn a new offensive system guaranteed he would fail. Mightve failed anyway but the situation he was put in guaranteed it.

Rosenfels developed nicely here but deserved to move up 2nd string so he went to Houston

As for our current crop, I think all of them might do alright if we gave them some talent to work with but instead they're given nothing and alot of fans expect them to perform miracles. I think Saban realizes the problems and we'll see if he can fix at least some of them in the offseason

That's because the Miami Dolphins have not started one good QB since Dan Marino. That is the honest truth, not one.

I understand the points made, especially the one about sticking with medicroty too long. I hated Jay Fiedler. No I am not an authority like Saban. But I see nothing really in Lemon. He had some really bad throws & some good ones. The rain looked to had pretty much stopped too.

I counter with JH playing well with like I said atrocious play calling, w/o RB & just making some mistakes.

For the person who accused me of not being a fan & being a JH homer. Not so. I have bee a fan since around 1977. I am just tired of people telling me to switch to people like Sage & Cleo.
Stick with a guy that can play a bit. Strengthen the team & draft a prospect to groom. Stop the merry go round. I say do it with JH.

I have always felt that Griese never got a fair chance here. Wanny have a thing for Jay and got rid of Griese to fast. Now look were there at...Does Jay even play anymore? Griese from what I've heard is going to be counted on the help Grossman and the Bears in the playoffs. Hmm makes you think.

You Nailed it!

Good post!

Regardless how Cleo looks Sunday, we need to keep the existing three QBs. Have each one work on their weakness in the offseason, and use the QB camps to rank. Draft one to develop and replace the starter in a few years.

We need stability going into 2007. Personally I'm comfortable with the three we have. We also have other areas to look at that affect the QB play.
