I do not know if they still broadcast the Quarterback Challenge during the off season. It was the sports show where pro quarterbacks from different NFL teams would compete against each other in drills for points. For example there was one where the quarterback had to hit a moving (several actually) targets moving across the field; the ball had blue chalk at the tip so as to mark the target. That's one of the drills- there were (are) others too.

Question: If Pennington, Henne, and Beck went head-to-head on one of those quarterback challege competitions, who would come out on top and why?

I think Beck would do well in that type of competition. He has a pretty strong arm and is pretty accurate. His problem is playing well when the bullets are for real, and there are guys chasing him trying to knock him out of the game. ;)

I can't see him fumbling the snap or dropping the ball when there are no defensive lineman accross from him.

I have not watched one in over 10 years, but I vaguely remember one with Marino and a few of the great QB's of that era. Those were fun to watch.

Marino used to own that competition.

Do interceptions and fumbles count against you or is it not really important if you hold onto the ball or not?
:woot:

As strong as Henne's arm is, I don't think he would place infront of Pennington OR Beck, I think Chad would win over Beck, but Beck would come in a close, CLOSE, second to Pennington. It would be interesting to watch that unfold.

I think Beck might actually beat Pennington, he has a stronger arm.

I remember when the Hoss (Hostetler) won after he had just signed to be the starter with the Raiders. I used to watch those all the time.

There was a great clip of Marino talking into the camera after just winning an event, where he goes, '...Yeah, but did I look good while I was doing it...'.

Marino did win one and that year he won the scrambling portion of it! He scrambled around some obstacles painfully and then hoped over a dummy hitting target dead on (giving him bonus points), beating out R. Cunningham.

they still have those.. they are the week before the pro bowl, they have a bunch of diff mini games for the all stars to compete in..

and i think penny would win simply because of his accuracy..

I've never seen one of those. I doubt they've ever been shown on UK TV. They sound like fun.

i have no clue. Im not big on these things but I would guess Pennington just because of his accuracy. His arm is strong enough to do well.

I think they have one in college every year. Brennan, Flacco, and I think Henne were in it last year. They used to have it at the Orange Bowl, but I have no clue where it is now.

You gotta love the QB challenge. I always wanted to drive one of the movable golf cart targets and break out of nowhere or floor it to screw with the QB's(don't know if they still use those kind.)

Does anybody remember the Quarterback Challenge Football Cards that used to come with Dominos Pizza? lol

yuppers i remember the cards, ill have to check imight still have a marino one. and its funny because just the other day i was thinking i need to seee if they have any of marinos old vids on youtube. my two fave memories of him in it were....

1) in read and recognition (the one with the 3 movable targets and i believe 4 set targets where a flag popped up on 3 of em after two secs) marino nailed the 50 yard one moving across the middle....BULLSEYE! TWICE!

2) him and deberg were in a final shootout for the win, and it came down to one through who ever got more points. marino went first and bullseyed a 17 yard stationary target that was near the sideline. he just smiled at deberg...deberg completely missed the target all together to give danny boy the win.

the last few years that they showed it, it lacked alot of the excitment that oit used to have in the early 90's btw i dont know if any of yall are video game fans, but remember there was a QB challenge nfl game that marino was on the cover of in the early 90's, the season mode was blagh compared to madden but i loved the QB challenge portion of it (specially considering i had dan)
