From the Miami HeraldBut not everything sits easy with Sparano as he heads into an extended stretch of time before the real work begins Aug. 1 with the opening of training camp: The team’s performance in red-zone drills.
Sounds like guarded coachspeak to me. I get the feeling if all three were expected back for the start of training camp Aug. 1, Sparano would have probably just said that. So don't be surprised if one or more of these guys is not ready to go for the first day in pads.
Training camps usually start about two weeks before the first preseason game. Last year the first preseason game was on August 9th. This year it is on August 17th.Isn't August 1st a bit of a late start for training camp?
The first football Sunday this year is September 13th which is in the middle of the month (or close to it). The start of training camp is later because the regular season starts later. We used to start the season at the very beginning of September..
