First off, i think the 7 sacks is a little bit misleading. two were by the shoestrings. Two were by blitzes. 1 was a fumbled snap. And did anybody notice that on two others, the TE was blocking 1 on 1 with the DE that got the sack? What kind of blocking scheme is that that would purposely put the TE out to block a DE 1 on 1? You have 5 o-lineman, 4 d-lineman. Even with a blitz (which these two instances weren't) it should never happen that a TE is 1-1 with a DE.

Yeah I rewatched it yesterday. Shoebel on McMichael and he ran right around him. I guess they thought McMike could take him.

not really. Not when 2 of the sacks were a TE against a DE. 7 sacks should have been 5 sacks. couple shoestrings and a fumble could have been 2 sacks. Pick up the blitz, no sacks.

They're not "real" sacks??? Is that what you're saying ?????

That it's misleading. 7 sacks would imply the Oline played terribly. On two of those sacks, it wasn't even an O-lineman that got beat, which is unacceptable.

Exactly.. and what is the question... Scacks arent completions or positive yards.... sacks= negative yards.
There isnt anything you can spin positive about it all.

And i think Kelsay on the other one from the other side.

yeah im not gonna sugar coat or make excuses up for the sacks either....they just need to correct the problems that caused the sacks and move on from it. its as simple as that.

The Bills D-Line was by no means overpowering the Dolphins O-line.

This is the second game in a row where I have seen RB and/or TE's matched up on Defensive Ends. Please tell me this isn't supposed to happen. We will always lose that match up.

Take away the Culpepper flukes (3) and the TE blocking (1) and they had 3 sacks, not that bad.

It was an offensive failure that led to those sacks, 7 in all, and the blocking, playcalling, and quarterback play was just bad. That's why there's 7 sacks.

If my aunt had testicles, she would be my uncle.

If you want to play the "if" game, If Daunte had waited another second or so on a couple of his passes it would have been 9 sacks. If Carey had been looking at the cheerleaders on the sideline it would have been 10 sacks. If Denny had timed a couple of snap counts a little better it would have been 12. For every instance that you think we MIGHT have avoided a sack, there is at least 1 instance that we could have been sacked that we weren't.

WE GOT SACKED 7 TIMES
It is what it is.

It might be that the Bills were using stunts that created mismatches like TE vs DE. I didn't tape the game, but I know that the Bills lined up Schobel, Kelsay, Triplett, Denney a few times so they were doing different things with the DL which was 3 DEs and 1 DT. Also, Denney was in pass coverage a few times, including on Crowell's big INT.

Like another poster already mentioned, the "what ifs??" can add up on both sides of the coin. To review a play and say that the TE on a DE was a mismatch and shouldn't count is ridiculous. Perhaps the DC actually drew up the play that way and the Oline wasn't prepared.

Perhaps????

CK started a thread with a nice breakdown on these just the other day. One of the things he concluded was the Shelton got beat pretty regularly
