Looks like Kelvin Hayden might hit the market with Saturday maybe being franchised. Would Hayden make a better #2 corner then Goodman. I know he is younger and has had a little injury history but I think he hasn't reached full potential yet either. What do you guys think about maybe signing him once free agency starts?

According to the IndyStar, the Colts are thinking about placing the one-year frachise tag on Hayden if they cannot agree on a deal.

If the Colts can't re-sign the starting cornerback -- and negotiations aren't going well, Polian said -- they plan to give him the one-year franchise tag to the tune of nearly $10 million. How that plays out will determine how the team handles center Jeff Saturday and its eight other unrestricted free agents, set to go on the bidding block Feb. 27.

you have to approach Tampa 2 CB's with caution

ask Mickey Loomis

Goodman was a great player down the stretch...I don't see any reason to replace him, but i know a lot of people disagree. We just have to make sure we don't overpay fro him. I think that's most important.

Cover 2 corners are hard to judge. Look at Jason David that went to the Saints. I can't think of a word that is worse than terrible. Harper went to the Titans and has turned out fine. I thought he would turn out the same as David but I was wrong.

Well if he is to be franchised we definately need to look at a cheaper option lol.

i tend to agree with this statement. we should certainly be developing guys to step in if goody's injured or his play declines, not to the tune of 10 mill though, good grief salaries are unreal in pro sports

It's a significant jump in system and style. I'd stick to looking at Bartell, Bodden, maybe McFadden.

Considering that tampa 2 system has corners covering the flats, it makes it that much harder to scout them in man to man coverage. Jumping routes is a hard habit to quit and is unforgiven in the blitz driven 3-4 that we run.

I would sign Bodden for cheap as possible and spend a little on mcfadden. we will need two corners quite soon.

I think Hayden is better than either David or Harper and could probably adapt better to another defense. I would like to see him in Miami, but I think the Colts will retain him one way or another. The rest of their secondary (except for Sanders) is expendable.

I hope we go for the gold and make a run for Nnamdi Asomugha. He won't be playing in Oakland next year for sure. He wants out and Oakland is cap-strapped.

I doubt our thrifty (ok, cheap) front office will get him though. They'll probably lean on Will Allen and try to get a decent second-tier free agent or draft one with one of our 2 second-rounders.
